P1174 code on my pontiac G6

I have a p1174 code on my wifes G6. Changed out the front O2 sensor, cleared the code and it re-appeared. I did notice a crack in the exhaust manifold when doing the sensor change out. Could this be the cause? Also I had installed a brand new out of the box (so I didn't oil it) K&N air filter. Did the K&N throw off the O2 sensors. Thanks

The motor is the 2.4li. four banger. I found the manifold/cat. for 320 but I don't want to change unless it really fixes the problem.

Ok i Will try to give you some help here P1174 and P1175 codes refer to the O2 sensor runs lean. things that can cause the fault code could be a misfire in the cylinders. With that said i find it is caused by a fouled spark plug or bad wire connection or even a clogged fuel injector. In some instances it could be low fuel pressure, dirty fuel or dirty fuel filter. If it happens frequently it is possible that the gas station where you fill up has just got a fuel delivery and that stirs up the sentiment in the bottom of the tank and you pump it into your tank and that can clog things up ad you drive causing your misfires. Run a good fuel system cleaner through the lines to break up the dirt, i would say put it in the tank with about 1/2 a tank and then drive it 50-60 miles before putting in another bottle and filling the tank. you may want to replace the plugs if it does not clear up. I hope this helps

SOURCE: How to clean O2 sensor on a 2007 Pontiac G6?

O2 sensor are located before and after Catalytic Converter ( exhaust system of your car). If you car's engine is 4 cyl you have 2 O2 sensors and if you car's engine is 6 cyl then you have 4 O2 sensors ( for each bank, 2 for left bank and 2 for right bank). Hope it helps and comment if you need more advice. Please don't forget to rate the answer it helps with my ratings, thanks!

SOURCE: o2 sensor location 1997 pontiac grand am 2.4 4 cyl auto trans

BANK 1 SENSOR 1 IS THE ONE IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. BANK 2 SENSOR 2 IS BELOW THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

P0171 SHOULD GO AWAY WITH A GOOD O2 SENSOR BUT DO CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS TO BE SURE. 3.1/3.4L ENGINES HAVE A BAD DESIGN INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET, THE LEAK OIL, COOLANT, AND AIR.

SOURCE: 2000 Pontiac sunfire 2.2 got code 1137. How do I

The 1137 OBD2 code is typically an o2 sensor problem as you have indicated, first I would make sure your replacing the correct o2 sensor as there are two (upstream and downstream), although it is possible that a bad o2 sensor could keep your engines fuel injection system from delivering the fuel to your engine, in my experience having a bad sensor typically results in a check engine light and running with a less than optimum fuel air mixture, it does not typically keep your vehicle from starting. If your still getting the 1137 error code after replace the o2 sensor and checking its connecting wires I would start looking for a bigger issue.

I had the code p0042 come up on my 05 pontiac g6 was wondering what it could be or what should I check

Code 42 is a problem with the heater circuit for the O2 sensor number 3. That is usually the sensor after the catalytic converter.
The heater is not working which could be a faulty sensor or a problem with the power circuit going to the sensor.

Pontiac g6 code P0054

Hi. Generic code description is
O2 sensor 1 bank 2 Heater control circuit.
Means the heated oxygen sensors internal heating element isn't working. Visual inspection of wiring and plug then if that's ok and you haven't any live data its probably worth a shot at replacing the O2 sensor itself. You can check the resistance of the heater element with a multi meter on ohms by disconnecting the O2 sensor plug and compare it to the other sensors for a guide if your technically minded. Jon.

Ok you should use a code reader to clear the code. It can be rented at the auto parts store. The pontiac G6's have an issue with the catalytic converter this may need to be replaced. Try the dealership as with less 60k miles it may be a free replacement.

O2 sensor,is bank 1 before or after the cad

Bank 1 doesnt matter on a four cylinder engine. In 6 or 8 cylinder engines they use Bank 1 or Bank 2 to clarify what side of the engine they are talking about. On yours there are 2 Oxygen sensors (O2) replace them both for best performance.

Which is the bank two o2 sensor in a g6 gt

Bank 1 is always the cylinder bank that has piston/cylinder no. 1 in it; usually the left side in a rear wheel drive GM, or the front side in a front wheel drive GM. The O2 sensor will be located on either the exhaust manifold, engine exhaust pipe after the exhaust flange, or on the catalytic converter for the 2 bank.
If this helps you, please remember to vote/comment, and good luck.

Engine light on

That code is for cylnder bank 2 running lean, there is actually an open technical service bulletin for this issue on your car, for clogged fuel injectors. That could be the problem, as well as a vac. leak, a malfunctioning bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor.
