I had the same problem, turned out there was a penny jammed in the track on the console side. Used needle nosed plyers and got the penny out, then used WD-40 and lubricated the tracks and it now works smoother than it did when I first bought the car.
Inspect the tracks because i bet you have something gummed up or jammed in there.
Good Luck

I have an 03 lincoln navigator the driver seat wont go forward or backward it can only go up and down, but every time touch the switch i hear a click, what can be my problem and what can be done to solve...

Most Ford products are designed so the seat belt latch by the center console moves with the seat. The bottom of the latch rides on the seat rail, and with time sometimes it builds up a little play on the rail. As the seat moves forward or back, the seat belt guide often tilts forward or back, just a bit, on the rail, and gets stuck. So you can move forward or back just a bit, but then it jams and you can hear the motor, but can go no further.

The long term fix is to remove the seat, disassemble the seat belt guide and rail, and usually replace some parts.

But the short term solution is often to simply hold on to the seat belt latch and rock it forward and away from the seat as you try to go forward or back. Or, sometimes it works best to rock it backwards and away from the seat as you try to move forward or back. It all depends on which way it is binding.

There's no guarantee that it won't jam again if you move it all the way back or forward, but once you find the right position to hold the seat latch in while moving the seat, you should be able to re-adjust it where you need it to be.

HONDA ACCORD Seats Front Assembly Recliner went down and won't go up

I wouldn't ruin anything by trying things yourself

I would have a dealer check it out

The dealer I used in the past, has a seat specialist come

1995 Lincoln Continental, passenger seat won't tilt back forward

YOU HAVE A SWITCH OR A TILT ACTUATOR MOTOR PROBLEM. LINCOLNS HAVE 5 OR 6 ELECTRIC MOTORS MOUNTED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF EACH FRONT SEAT WHICH REQUIRES REMOVING THE SEAT TO INSPECT .THEIR ARE ALSO CABLES ATTATCHED TO THESE MOTORS SO LISTEN WHEN YOU HIT THE TILT SWITCH DO YOU HEAR A MOTOR NOISE? IF YOU DO THEN YOU MAY HAVE A BAD CABLE.

I have a 1993 Mercury Topaz that I just bought, and the drivers side seat will not move forward, it will go in all other directions, but won't move forward...any suggestions?

There are 3 electric motors on the seat. One is forward and back, one is front up and down, and one is rear up and down. The switch changes the polarity back and forth to achieve the proper movement. I think the wire color for the forward and back motor is yellow with a white tracer and red with a white tracer. so if the switch gives the motor positive voltage to the yellow with a white tracer and grounds the red with a white tracer the seat moves forward. If the switch gives the red with a white tracer positive and the yellow with a white tracer ground the seat moves back. (or the other way around). So we can safely say it is in the switch.
Good luck and God Bless

Subaru outback all wheel drive electric seat switch stuck

I just went through and determined it was the switch. My wife had accidentally moved the seat almost all of the way forward - and the reverse did not work at all - she was very cramped. After going thru fuses and seeing that none were blown I looked for loose wiring under the seat and found none. I was about to pull the seat when I stopped and decide to pull the side cover first. Item 5 in the photo below. Once that was off access to the switch was easy - item 3. The box actually contains a set of 3 switch housings each with 2 switches on it - total of 6 for each direction. I unplugged the large connector to this switch. Then I cut some wire off of a roll of wire i had in the garage and stripped both ends. I put one wire into the power contact (red) and the other into ground (black) and then took the other end of both wires and connected them across the other contacts in the connector. Pretty quickly I could determine which pair of contacts controlled which motor. I got the right combination that allowed me to operate the seat-reverse motor and get the seat back into the right position... problem solved. I still need to find a replacement switch box at a junk yard but no hurry now that the seat is back to a comfortable position.

Electric front seat stuck in forward position. It's a 2002 Camry. I moved the electric adjustment completely forward looking for an item and it would not return back to the original position. Both tilts...

I had the same problem on my 2003 Toyota Camry. The threaded drive screws are what spin underneath the seat and cause the seat to move back and forth (same way a garage door opens or closes). When the seat gets all the way in the forward position, the threading on the drive screws ends, which causes the bolts connected to the seat to jam and get stuck. It should sound like the motor is trying to turn but it won't, it just clicks. Un-jam the bolts and rotate them one rotation from the all the way forward position to ensure your seat is reinstalled straight.

Front driver seat adjustments. Push control forward seat goes back; push control back seat moves forward. Easy exit feature moves seat forward

probably the switch is installed backward in its cover so remove the switch and rotate it and put it back
