Is the check engine light on ?
If not, I would check the fuel pressure with a gauge next.
If a sensor has failed or something like the EGR valve is faulty you should get a check engine light and a trouble code.

SOURCE: 1999 lincoln fuel pump

My fuel pump on my 1998 Lincoln Continental has no power. I checked the fuse it is good. I checked the fuel shutoff switch it was fine. I have traced the wire from the fuel shutoff switch to the fuel module driver in the trunk. The wire has power. I have also traced the positve wire from the fuel pump to the fuel driver on a different terminal, this wire has no power from the pump. I also changed the fuel driver, the low fuel pressure switch, the alternator, and battery.does anyone have any suggestion's?

have you checked out the core packs? and if you go to autozone you can get a printed diagram where the crankcase sensor is located also look for the location normally under the hood for the fuel pump relay

Why does my 98 lincoln continental sputter in park and drive?

If you have checked plugs as you have and fuel
is good, you have not put diesel in it.Then it could be
worn points, base plate which points sit on could be
loose or broken. The cap could need a clean on the
parts where rotor arm strikes, cap could be cracked
usually short between the points on cap in the way of
a line going round.Or it could be the coil giving gaps in
out put.Cheapest way, distributor cap ,rotor arm and points,
then base plate under points. You say pump o.k, have you changed filters in fuel line,if blocked could cause your problem.

Have a Nissan Pulsar 1999 - 1.6L. Was running fine, stopped at an interesection, went splutter, splutter, stop. Plenty of fuel in tank. Have since changed the fuel filter, checked there is fuel being...

Okay Im confused it says a 1999 nissan pulsar 1.6 Then it says a 1995 licoln continental. HMMM HMM . Okay lets begin a nissan 1999 pulsar (by the way pulsar was stopped in 1989) 80 psi is more that enough feul pressure for either vehicle. Fuel filter is change food. There is spark okay. 5 short and 5 long alright 5long 5 short in nissan it means no problem system pass. 5 short 5 long in Ford means ECM internal failure. For the Ford the Harmonic balancer need to be look at there is a crank sensor but the crank sensor is dependant on the signal ring on the Harmonis balancer if you put you hand on it are you able to move it either way if you can then you found the problem and that can set off 5 long and 5 short. Now for the nissan, spark and fuel look on the air cleaner youll see a long black duct is it torn up or did it come apart if that came out it sputter and sputter then stall. and that will give a 5 short and 5 long.

I bought a new feul pump and ecu for my 98 lincoln continental i

Check to see if its getting spark by slightly removing a plug wire.  And see if you can see fuel pumping inside the carb as you pump the linkage.  Also try poringing a little fuel inside the carb with the air filter removed.  If it starts it's the fuel system if it doesn't it's the ignition system.
