Flashing d4 light, engine will not start

My 1992 Accord was running as well as it always has, when I suddenly noticed that the D4 light was blinking. I did not continue driving it at this time. Went back to it a little later and the engine would not start. I put the key in the selector keyswitch on the console and put the trans. into nuetral, and the car will start. Could this be as simple as changing the trans. filter and bottom end fluid, or will I also need to check the adjustment on the automatic clutch?

Chris, I believe u have 2 problems. The flashing D4 light indicates a transmission problem, which Honda recommends having checked out right away. It wouldn't hurt to change the fluid, there is no filter on the 92 accord. I suspect the problem is more than changing the fluid though. The other problem is only starting in Neutral. This may be a faulty neutral safety switch. It's located at the base of the shift selector, and covered by the console. Let me know if u need directions on how to remove/install it. Good luck.

My d4 light blinks in my 92 accord

What solenoid did you replace? Disconnecting the negative battery cable will reset the flashing light, however, if it goes back on, or fails to reset, you still have an issue to correct with the accord.

Hello there:
good question. what i would have to tell you is to have the car checked again to make sure that you get the same code than i would see if there is any warranty on this if not you will have to have a repair shop perform the repairs You might be able to get the part from autozone or cragen that will save you some money there

92 honda accord lx D4 flashes

you have a transmission fault the D4 light blinks to tell you that there is a transmission problem when the light is blinking the transmission computer put the transmission into limp home mode so it will not shift normally and you should try not to drive it very far when it gets to this stage you need to have the transmission codes check to pin point the problem

Check engine and d4 lights on

d4 is flashing as a trouble code for the automatic transmission... i would say without research that it is a code for a transmission solenoid. maybe while washing the car some water got in and caused a short...these solenoids are usually weatherproof....you could try disconnscting the battery for 30 secs..to clear the trouble code and then start the car. remember you may lose your preset info!
