Not really.
The air bags act as replacement or extra coil springs to hold the car up.
You might be able to replace them with coil springs from a Crown Vic.
That may cause problems with the front air bags and the rest of the system.

SOURCE: 2003 Lincoln Navigator air suspension

I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. Airbags and compressors are constantly having to be replaced. Also something alot of people don't know is that theses air suspensions are not meant to be in temperatures above 90 Degrees or below 40 Degrees. That is most of the world. The temperature will cause you to replace alot of bags. and typically when your replacing a bag you are going to have to replace the compressor to because the bag had a hole or small crack in it causing the compressor to over work and it will die. I posted the link below so you can take a look http://www.strutmasters.com/lincoln-suspension-parts-s/1.htm I hope I was of some help Good Luck!!!

SOURCE: just had car dealership repair 1997 lincoln town air ride

Those Lincolns are notorious for that,I'd just get a set of coil springs out of a Crown Victoria cop car(junk yard)and swap them out.Done it many times, you can do it in about an hour, and they'll never leak down again.By the way, there's some O-rings in that system.Make some soapy water and spray every connection, just maybe you'll get lucky.

How long does it take to fix the air bags in the air suspension in a lincoln town car

Every repair place you go to, will have different recommendations
for your situation

You have to decide if you want to spend money on a 19 year old
vehicle

Personally I wouldn't, & I do all my own work & get parts at a discount

Think about your question
How would we on the internet without the car to test,be able
to tell you if it was the compressor, air bag shocks/struts or
compressor,plastic or metal air lines,electrical issues,etc

If your keeping any vehicle, with air suspension, I only have one
recommendation every time I get this question & it applies to
almost new vehicles as well

LOOSE THE AIR SUSPENSION COMPLETELY

There are at least 6 big well known brand name companies that
make conventional replacement shocks etc

You remove the air bag deal & replace with a brand new,not
reconditioned, vehicle specific shock complete with the spring
necessary for your vehicle

The how to disable the air compressor, remove or tie up the
air lines & other issues is up to you, or may be in the instructions.

On a 4 year old ford or lincoln you can't afford to have a dealer
try & diagnose those systems, not from what I see on this web site
The dealers can't resolve their own products anymore

Can i replace rear air suspension with shocks on 2000 town car

I have learned from experience. I replaced the air bag suspension ($75) on my 2000 Town Car and then learned that I had a problem with the compressor. Then decided to replace system with coil springs. Went on ebay and got a conversion kit (Air Ditcher) that included the shocks ($123) with free shipping. My mechanic replace the bags with the coils for $40. He said that with the shock replacement it would be $120 because the top of the rear shocks were hard to get to. So the whole job should have cost $163. No more worries!

Why won't rear end raise up ?

I have a 2000 Lincoln Town car, had the same problem, it was the rear air suspension/shocks. They are air bags basically that levels your car and it cost about $300.00 for each at the dealer for parts and install but it also has its own motor that inflates and deflates these air bags and I also had to replace that and that cost over $400.00 installed at the dealer.

There are many kits available to convert your vehicle to regular coil spring with gas shocks, the suspension light warning will stay on the dash forever though.

Trying to replace airshocks on 1999 lincoln towncar

Air shocks or air bag suspension? Shocks can be replaced with a "coil-over" shock like those made by monroe. To replace spring/air bag system, you would need to experiment with spring combination's to find what works...likely more expensive than changing what's wrong with original stuff.

Air Rise Suspension/computer module

my brother in law replaced the air springs on my '94 town car with rear coil springs from a '92 crown vic. He raised the rear tires off the ground and put jack stands on the frame for safety on both sides. Then disconnected the shocks at the lower end and removed the air springs.removed rear tires and used a piece of 2x4 to pry axle down to provide clearance to put coil springs in place. then hooked shocks back up and it worked fine. the only way the coil springs could come out is if the car was upside down and then who cares. This project only cost $ 25.00 Real cheap being we were broke!
