My 1987 Chrysler New Yorker has a leak. I'm not sure where it's coming from. I think it might be transmission fluid, so I want to know what type of transmission fluid it uses?
SOURCE: What type of transmission fluid for town & country ?
Transmission fluid type ATF+4.
The filter is located on the bottom of the transmission, inside the oil pan.
SOURCE: What type of transmission fluid to use
dextron 3 would be the fluid.

SOURCE: fill transmission fluid on 19999 audi a4
LISTEN CLOSE. THERE IS A PLUG ON PAN. REMOVE IT. WITH A SYRINGE TYPE CANISTER YOU NEED TO INJECT THE FLUID INTO IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO COME OUT. THEN CAREFULLY START VEHICLE AND INJECT ANOTHER 3/4 QUART UNLESS IT STARTS TO COME OUT OR EVEN A QUART.LET IT RUN FOR 5 MINUTES THEN CONTINUE TO INSERT UNTIL IT OVERFLOWS AND TIGHTEN THE PLUG BACK TO THE PAN. i WOULD ONLY USE AUDI VOLKSWAGON FLUID AND YES IT CAN RUN $14 TO $18 A LITER
SOURCE: transmission fluid leak
Transmissions can leak anywhere there is a seal, fitting or gasket. Most common leaks are at the trans pan gasket and fittings.. However, to find a leak the only way is to get under there and look. A mid sized leak will clean off road debris and leave a track. Keep in mind that all leaks run down and that while driving this can be blown towards the rear of the vehicle. If you find a suspicious area, clean it off with a rag & some solvent and run vehicle...watch that area for seepage. Also check cooling lines to radiator. Fluid coming from inside bellhousing indicates a bad front seal (requires trans removal to repair) Fluid should be (for aw4 units) Mercon, or any quality synthetic that covers mercon application.
SOURCE: need to change manual transmission fluid
pull the lower plug from the transmission, it will be on the bottom or the side on the bottom. replace the plug after draining and remove the fill plug wich is about half way up the side of the transmission. use 75w 90 gear oil in the trans.
good luck
