Cigarette lighter doesn't work.

A while ago, a penny dropped into the cigarette lighter of my 2005 VW Jetta. I got the penny out, but the cigarette lighter doesn't work. I checked the fuse, and as far as I can tell, it's not blown.

Ideas for what else to check or solution for the problem?

i suspect the lighter will need to be replaced... can you get to the back of it to check to see if there is voltage going to the light ?

I dropped a Penny in cigarette lighter on my 2001 acura rl now the radio doesn't work and fuses appear fine

Some radio power sources also tie into the cigarette lighter and power adapters. You mentioned fuses appear ok, if you dont have a test light to test both sides of the fuses try swapping the fuses around from another location and see if that changes anything.. Oh and if the penny is still in the lighter try a ball of tape of the end of a pencil to pull it out.. Look for a fuse listed aux. power or radio/cig lighter. Most likely the fuse is inside the car not under the hood..(usually)..

Penny dropped into the cigarette lighter of my 2008 saturn astra. I got the penny out, but the cigarette lighter doesn't work

hi,

there must have been a weak connection somewhere in the line.
use a volt meter to trace from the lighter to the fuse box.
I have also seen the wire connection go bad during a short in the back of the fuse box itself where the wire goes in.
follow the 12 volts and you will find your problem.

My cigarette lighters do not work to charge my cell phone? could this be a fuse problem? If so, which fuse is it?

Yes, could be cigarette lighter fuse blowed. Check fuse no.# 42 - F42 (20A) = cigarette lighter, 12 Volts. See picture below:

For 2006 VW Jetta the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.

My 2002 VW Jetta cigarette lighter will not work. I have tried replacing the fuse, and nothing. How do I (myself) change the cigarette lighter? Thanks for your help!!!

You need a dc current test light to see if it is getting current, or plug in a cell phone charger to see if you are getting current. Our it could be the the lighter insert, a burnt out element and not the socket.
