My stupid CEL (Check Engine Light) came on and there are literally hundreds of postings on the internet with the same problem for the EXACT YEAR!!! I swapped in my old PVC valve AND did the battery disconnect/stand on brakes for 20 seconds bit AND IT WORKS. I understand the trick is only good for 15 miles or so. I am also informed Madza put the vaccume hoses in wrong AT THE FACTORY. Something about re-routing the hose from the second RUNNER (see the four HUMPS on the intake manifold? Its da one in the bottom middle)--and its supposed to go to the plug on top of the manifold---problem is, its PLUGGED. Whatta I do?
Are you trying to pass a smog inspection, if so by disconnecting the battery you have wiped all programming and now before it will pass you will need to complete a OBD2 drive cycle testing procedure, this takes days to do and requires you drive highway, city and idle engine certain periods of time. There is a engine vacuum hose routing diagram under the hood on the federal emissions certification label,.

Check if fuel or spark problem,..all engines need both to run...use starting fluid in air intake ,..if it runs very shortly-fuel pmp?,,ck for spark at spark plug,work your way back..also ck timing belt-intact? Kev-MN

These are a vacuum line nightmare. I take it the diagram isn't still on the bottom of the hood?
