I work at a dealer and generally its is 8 hours labor to remove the dash. disassemble the HVAC box, repair whatever doors or motors broke, checking the Evaporator and heater core for leaks. and it typically comes out to around $1400 when all is said and done but thats also at $90 per hour

Heater coil is leaking in my 2005 jeep grand cherokee car

Happened on my 05 Jeep. Had antifreeze leaking into the interior. Brought it into the mechanic and there was a spot on the piping (i guess that's what it would be called) that was rusted causing it to leak. It's all one piece so the whole heater coil had to be replaced. Unfortunatley, not cheap. Cost me about a grand. (I'm trading in my Jeep) If you knew how to replace the heater coil yourself, I'm sure it'd be cheaper but from what the mechanic told me, it's a common problem with Chrysler's vehicles. That along with the rear differntial breaking, which was another grand I put into my Jeep.

automatic climate control with dual controls?

Sounds like a broken drivers side blend door. Very common problem. Jeep has a repair kit that includes a new metal blend door and instructions on how to cut out an access in the HVAC housing. The kit also includes a new passenger blend door. If you want to replace both you',, need to pull the entire dash and then the HVAC housing which is a much better but more time consuming way of doing it. Pulling the housing is a huge job!

Not a bad gasket, as there is no gasket. The heater core has developed a small leak and needs to be replaced or repaired. This is a big job, as the entire dash has to come out of the Jeep. The cost of the part is $77 at autozone, but the labor is several hours at a good shop. We have the procedure and can send it if you would like to do this job yourself. Just let me know.

How do replace a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee evaporator? Do I need to take the whole dash apart?

I have read it is quite a job. The heater core in my 97 Grand Cherokee (which is in the same location as the evaporator) is leaking. I think you have to remove the entire dash to get to it.

Heater core 2002 jeep grand cher.

I purchased a Blen Door repair kit. for my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee after having only cold air blow out of the passenger side for over a year. I found it on EBay. It requires you remove the glove box, cut open the heater box and replace the blend door. I really didn't want to cut that open, however, with the tape that comes with it, I have had no problems with it leaking any air. The dual control no longer works, the temperature is now completely controlled by the drivers side, but to save $1200, I was willing to do this. I have taken the entire thing out before to replace the heater core, didn't want to do it again.
