Have messed with carb. idle and now car won't stay on
SOURCE: Idle Screw location on 1984 Ford F150 302...
it has a metal cap on it and has to be drilled out and ajusted by a licenced mechanic if your talking about the fuel mixture for the idel it's on the cabe near the body of the carburator.

Check the float valve. I suspect that you have a piece of dirt in the inlet valve.
SOURCE: i need to know how
The jets are inside the carb & there is no adjustment
You referring to adjusting the one or two idle screws
that are visible, most likely on the front of the carb in the
base plate
You can use a vacuum gauge or a tach along with it
to get the highest vacuum reading & rpm if you use a
tach also.
You do that at an idle with the vacuum gauge teed in
to a vacuum source
Then just turn the screw in about a quarter turn from the
highest reading
Have to reset the idle screw & recheck your timing
without vacuum advance hooked up.
If you can find any specs, you can use them
They most likely will use rpm as the setting point
Check for a vacuum leak somewhere. It could b the pcv valve on the valve cover or the hose going to the brake booster. Take the hose off the brake booster and plug it. then start the engine. It might also b the base gasket under the carb.
Testimonial: "Thanks you that's exactly what it was. I getting the vacuum line corrected I found a line that they had running into the cab and to a plunger device on the brake peddle. Is this a correct installation? Also does the auto transmission have a vacuum line associated with shifting gear?"
