Trying to recalibrate my compass, can anyone tell which "zone" ARIZONA is in??? I dont have the owners manual anymore so i cant look it up,SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!
here's what we had to do on some big dollar motorhomes at one time, maybe it will work? use a parking lot if needed. Shut vehicle off, start, put in gear, turn wheels all the way one way and do a complete circle, min. 360 degrees & stop, wait couple of seconds, then turn the other way all the way, and do another 360 degrees. Stop, wait 5 seconds or so, shut vehicle off. wait 5 seconds or so & start back up. That was it, the compass was then reading correct. probably not the case here, but what the heck, doesn't cost nothing to try.

You can't do this yourself, it requires a degaussing coil, the whole car must be de-magnetized. This is a dealer repair. You can't do this yourself, it requires a degaussing coil, the whole car must be de-magnetized. This is a dealer repair.

It usually means the compass on the vehicle needs recalibrating. That is the thing that tells you are going north or wherever in the mirror. The module is in the back of the mirror. Resetting is usually very easy.
Find an empty car park.
Press the Compass button on the mirror.
Do 3 complete circles left.
Do 3 complete circles right.
Google
year make model manual
They are all online. Press CTRL+F and type in Compass,.

If the compass is working and the thermometer is stuck (or wrong), it probably a bad sender which is located behind the bumper on the driver's side bolted to the radiator support.
If the compass is not responding, it will probably need to be recalibrated and might need to reset the VAR. You can try to recalibrate first but if you have the owner's manual handy, go ahead and do the whole thing.
In the owner's manual there is a VAR (variation) code to tell the truck which part of the planet you're in so it will be accurate. Locate that code and then do the following:
To reset the variation:
1. Ignition on.
2. Hold down both buttons (US/Metric and Comp/temp) until VAR appears. (about 5 seconds)
3. Release both buttons. VAR remains.
4. Press and release the US/metric button. VAR1 appears. Press and release the US/metric button until the correct VAR is shown.
5. Press the Comp/temp button to store the new variation.
To recalibrate:
1. Start the engine.
2. Depress both buttons until CAL appears, about 5 seconds after VAR.
3. Release both buttons.
4. Drive the vehicle on a level surface, away from large metal objects, through three or more complete circles in less than 48 seconds. The CAL message will disappear from the display to indicate that the compass is now calibrated.
To repair, as in recalibrate, there should be instructions in the owner manual. If it's not working it must be replaced as an assembly. to remove, open storage compartment, remove 2 screws and pull down gently, held on by clips.
I have same issue as Marlyn Paterno and my Honda dealer had it a whole day and could not find issue. So after charging me $150 to check the wiring, they told me it may be my GPS unit. I refused to pay another $200 with no guarantees. They had never seen this issue before where they set zone and then it changed zones and blinks (NE CAL. Or S CAL.) If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. My 2012 CRV has been doing this since summer 2013 off and on.
Each zone of the United States has a specific zone number that the compass has to be set with..
It depends where you live...Check dealer or owners manual for zone setting...You should have a reset button at dash area....If you ever change battery you will have to reset compass zone normally.....Zone numbers are all single digit I believe.....I am on east coast...S.East...Which is 8 or 9...pending state...................Hope this helps............Metalpoet..........
Just try recalibrating it first.Fist go to a empty parking lot and make sure there are not any big metal buildings or power lines.Press the compass button til it displays C or Cal.There will be a zone number that should appear. This number has to do with what zone your in.For instance I am in Wisconsin my zone is 8.So it depends on where you are on what your zone number will be.This has to be put in order for the compass to be accurate.Once this is in then drive the vehicle in a circle til the compass reads the correct heading. You have to go under 5 mph.Let me know if you need anymore help.Good luck.
You need to recalibrate the compass. The procedure is in your owners manual. Here are the basic steps.
First, you will need to verify that your compass zone is set to your current geographic location. Since I do not know where you are located, I cannot tell you the code. They are listed in the manual. (For example, So Cal is zone 5.)
Second, here is the compass calibration adjustment procedure:
Perform this adjustment in an open area free from steel structures and high voltage lines. For optimum calibration, turn off all electrical accessories (heater/air conditioning, wipers, etc.) and make sure all vehicle doors are shut. 1. Start the vehicle. 2. To enter the compass calibration mode, press and hold the button for greater than eight seconds. The display will then show CAL in the display window. 3. Drive the vehicle slowly (less than 3 mph) in circles until CAL indicator turns off. As many as 5 complete circles may be required. 4. The compass is now calibrated.

where in Arizona? Does the vehicle have a message center?
You can't do this yourself, it requires a degaussing coil, the whole car must be de-magnetized. This is a dealer repair.
Have you tried service dept at dealership yet?
