Often times when the air bags deploy the horn buttons are damaged, the quick solution would be to install a push button to ground the horn wire. Just hook one side of the button to ground and the other to the horn wire.
It could be the fuse but is more than likely a fault with some other part of the system. You'll need to scan the system and se wha the fault codes are. When the airbag light is on it won't deploy in an accident so be sure to get it checked asap.
no connection between air bag and horn operation
the air bag is in a section but that whole section presses to activate the horn
can be on either side bottom or top will work the horn
probably right that there is no air bag
you will have to remove the wheel to check the horn contact under the center bit
check for a horn relay operation first
When the airbag goes off it burns the connection behind it in the clockspring. This also burns the connection for the horn, which also goes thru the clockspring.
When the SRS light is On the system has determined that a problem
exists and because the system doesn't have the ability to judge how
that detected problem will affect the air bags deployment the system
shuts down the airbag system. They will not deploy in an accident where
a normally functioning system would deploy the bags.
The SRS is a supplemental restraint system meaning that your seat belts
are the primary restraint system. We're told that "airbags do save
lives"; if that is true then you compromise your safety by not
attending to the cause of the SRS light being on.
Good luck and please rate this with a testimonial too.
If the airbag light had been on so long that it bunrt out then the light wouldnt be on to tell you they wont work. If the SRS fuse was blown or removed the airbags and the light won't work. If the car had been repaired by a less than honest repairman and the airbags were replaced with dummies that trick the light to being out.. The SRS bags are expensive and the triggers and the wiring are all supposed to be replaced if the bags were deployed in an accident. A dual bag system that has been deployed can cost $4000 to replace correctly, never mind the other work thats required to make the car safe and roadworthy. A car facts report may find the person thats responsable for the less than complete repair. If any senser or air bag doesnt complete the circuit to the controller the warning light SRS or AIRBAG orange or yellow will be on and the bags with the light on will not work. I hope everything comes out OK as to find this out you had to be in a hard accident and the fireman has been trained to protect the wreaker and rescue peaple by causing the air bags to deploy if they didn't. So the bags cant hurt them as they work to remove the busted car from the crash site
The light should go out after you replace the sensor that should be in the front of the vehicle. You can check the fuse for the horn. However, some of the airbags that don't come from a dealers, don't deploy, but there is no way of knowing that until you are in an accident.
If this was a reportable accident, your insurance company should take care of the air bag and consequencial damages. Bypassing safety devices as such creates greater risk of severe injury because the rest of the vehicle is designed with all systems functional. Ck w/ insurance co.
you have to replace air bag . because your horn pad contact switches made in bag . when bag deployed it mess your contact switches .its going to cost you 700.00 dollars. have to fix it . or your car wont pass state inspection.sorry it happen . good luck.
You will have to install a switch in the steering colum whwre the airbag mounted, of course you will have to remove the airbag a good used airbag is about $200 a new one a lot more.
