My 2003 Dodge Ram 5.7L Hemi has been experiencing problems with the Electronic Throttle Control or ETC. Error codes displayed are 2106 and 2108. The vehicle loses power at accelerator. The transmission acts like it is in neutral but there is no increase in RPM. This happens suddenly while driving at any speed. Usually after using 4-WD. The computer has been flashed before and the problem subsided for almost a year each time. Can you help?
DTC P2106
Throttle actuator control system-forced limited power
DETECTION CONDITION
• The PCM monitors the throttle actuator control current when the ignition switch is on. If the control current is less than 8 A or more than 11 A, the PCM determines that the throttle actuator control system is under forced limited power.
Diagnostic support note
• This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in the first drive cycle.
• PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Throttle actuator malfunction
• Connector or terminal malfunction
• Open circuit in wiring harness between throttle body terminal A and PCM terminal 1B
• Short to power supply in wiring harness between throttle body terminal A and PCM terminal 1B
• Short to GND in wiring harness between throttle body terminal A and PCM terminal 1B
• Open circuit in wiring harness between throttle body terminal B and PCM terminal 1C
• Short to power supply in wiring harness between throttle body terminal B and PCM terminal 1C
• Short to GND in wiring harness between throttle body terminal B and PCM terminal 1C
• PCM malfunction
and for the other one
the dealers need to reflash the powertrain module ( ETC ) ...
hope i'll not get that problem on my 04 hemi...
What is the ETC linked to? what would cause this light to come on?
I own a Dodge Charger 2008 3.5l, 6cy , it stalled while driving. I took it to a Dodge dealer who REFLASH the Powertrain Control Module(PCM) . He said if it happen again he will have to replace the PCM. Luckily for me I had purchase a LIfetime warranty on 9/11/2012 which will cover the cost with a deductible of $150.00. Hope this help you.

2003 ram 2500 ETC light on truck runs like **** keeps stalling and cant drive it. Check engin light 1st came on I scaned it said open circut enjection 4, 5, 7. Pulled injectors sprayed PB blaster in them tested against battery 4, 5, 7. Didn't spray. Took 3 weeks to get new injectors, putem in replaced wires and plugs . a little smoother but still stalls. Then ETC light comes on Pulled 2- codes 2106 Throttle actuator control system forced limited power. 2172 Throttle actuator control system-sudden high air flow detected.Would this show up if the ETC was dirty?

I have the same problem with my Dodge ('03 Hemi). I have found that if I turn the car off and restart it the problem stops for a little while. I found a response to this problem on antother site that suggested cleaning the electronic throttle body with carb or electronic cleaner. One guy tried it and subsequently drove from Oklahoma city to Dallas without the problem reoccuring.
I have the same problem with my '04 Hemi. I have found that hitting the cruise button will prolong its symptoms until I can afford to get it fixed. Dodge told me it would be a $900 fix.
i have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 hami 5.7 lt 2wd and the etc light has been flashing and to stop the flasing i need to turn off the truck but that only work for a bet . when it is flashing the truck feel like it is lossing power . when i press on the gas it goes but when i take my foot off it slow down real fast .i just hope some one can help me out
I have a problem with my 2006 mercury Montego. One Friday night the throtle stopped working and i could only go slow. Engin light and wrenceh on dashboard. I brought it to a Ford dealer and they replaced electronic throtle housing. a few days later the same thing happened. I am wondering if they know what they are doing or if the throtle systems are made in China.
We found out that our Electronic Throttle Sensor needs to be replaced. Our problem is where is it at so we can replace it without having to take it to the dealership?
04 Hemi has the same problem its idling at 10mpg and no accelerator control, I took it to a blood sucking dealer and they replaced the throttle body and also flashed my PCM. Problem not solved so the dealer said I needed to replace the PCM for an extra $900 bucks.. no way so I bought a new pcm and installed it myself, problem still not fixed. I have 3 faulty codes that all have to do with the throttle/pedal position sensor. So I guess I will replace the TPS sensor and pray it works so I can sell this car.
