Loud scraping grinding thumping noise when turning ford taurus ses 2002

The sound mostly comes from turning from a dead stop at low speeds and mostly on the right side. I did drive through a flooded area and I'm wondering if it affected things. My ball joints were just replaced last November, so I don't think it's that.

SOURCE: 2004 ford freestar...I have a VERY high pitch

I had this problem and took it to a dealer. There is a service bulletin on this problem... replace the wheel bearings as they are a known problem. Could be a batch production problem. This fixed my problem.

SOURCE: we have a 96 ford

What exactly popped off? Did the mechanic state what the transmission had to do with the ball joints?

SOURCE: I hear a loud grinding

Check the inside of the tire for signs of rubbing against something. Strangely worn tread, cuts, etc. would be signs of such.

What is the clunking sound on the front end of my 2002 Ford Taurus SES?

Look for worn or loose struts-this suspends the upper portion of the wheels. The lower suspension is the control arm and lower ball joint.

You will need to raise each wheel on the front and check these parts for wear or looseness.

2002 olds intrigue shakes while idling with brake on in drive

The cause is too low an idle and engine is starving for fuel so it shakes like that. The thumping sound you hear is most likely just the exhaust being too close to the floor amd bumping against it when in drive with brake on.You said yourself that it stops when you put it in nuetral, well the engine speed goes up when there's no stress on it.With some one holding the brake and it's sitting there thumping, set the idle speed up just enough to make the engine stop rocking that way.

2005 Ford Explorer is making a grinding noise

I had some issues with my 2005 explorer left rear. It was making a creepy old door sound at low speeds and then a high pitched whisel at high speeds. That turned out to be a broken wheel bearing and had it replaced. Note each wheel has two wheel bearings. After that a new noise developed that sounded like metal scraping/ grinding metal. It end up being the brake dust cover got bent when they replaced the bearing and it was rubbing something, the fix for that was bending it so it didn't rub. I hope this helps.

What should i do if i get a 0420 code on a 2003 ford taurus

Trouble code P0420 means: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

This is unrelated to the noise when turning sharply or the grinding when braking/brake light.

At slow speeds, there seems to be noise coming from the front like a rubbing or grinding sound, Could it be the struts orsome bushing problem?

Could be the front brakes are low. They have a small metal scraper which rubs the rotor when the pads get low. Typically the noise stops when you put brakes on. Most prominant at low speeds.
Otherwise I would check the sway bar. They can somtime shift sideways in their bracket and cause similar symtoms mostly while turning.
Hope this helps.

Recently purchased the 2008 Ford taurus X. I

Take it to another dealer and see if they can figure it out for you. Obviously that dealership is full of idiots that don't have the time for your concerns. I wish I could help you out but, explaining a thumping noise is hard to do if your not there to actually hear it for yourself. I wish you luck and hope it is still under factory warranty.

Loud noise in front left tire 2004 Ford Taurus SES

You mentioned the noise was from the left (drivers side) front. The compressor is on the passenger side in association with the engine compartment. Question, once the noise starts does it continue while stopped or only while moving?

I have a 2001 Silhouette. I have a noise in the front end that sounds like a wheel bearing going bad. It increases in loudness with speed. At low speed it can't be heard at all but at around 50 to 60 it...

I have a 2002 Olds van and it also makes a noise under the front driver wheel well. Mine was mostly when I hit potholes or large dips causing the shocks to compress. The problem is a metal to metal contact between a bushing lip and the suspension. On this side, the bushing is manufactured opposite of the passenger side. The lip is up and causes the two metal pieces to rub. I had to grind down the lip so it would be like the other side. All is better now. I'm not sure if this is where your noise is coming from since it gets louder with speed. I would assume yours is a bearing. Sorry.
