Check the ignition coil or coil pack of their resistance,
primary must have 1.0 ohm to 0.5 ohms(tolerable).
secondary are between 900 ohms to 12,000 ohms

SOURCE: 94 Jeep Cherokee won't start

I believe the green wire is a pulse from the distributor and its a ground signal. I could be wrong since is been a while since i left the jeep dealer...I would take the coil out (2 bolts on most) and take it to autozone. They can test it in minutes for free. Either that or the ignition module but more common is coil.

I replaced alternator on my 01 dodge stratus, but car still isn't putting off enough volts to stay running..do i need to reset the comp code? Or is it something else?

Did you test for B+ voltage at heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator ? Also pin 1 at the connector, a orange with dark green stripe wire should have B+ voltage . Fuse #25 20amp in the under hood fuse box. The heavier gage wire has a fusible link in the wire , comes from starter solenoid . The last wire in the connector , a dark green wire comes from the PCM - engine computer . You can replace the alternator how ever many times you like , but if there is any B+ voltage at the place's I mentioned it's not going to charge ! Plus if the PCM is turning it on it's not going to work . There are videos on youtube for testing charging systems.

I have a 98 dodge stratus 5 speed it will start for about 10 to 15 mins and then shut off what could be the problem

When it shuts off you will need to figure out if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors.
Is the check engine light on when the engine is running ?

I have a 1994 dodge ram b250 conversion van with a 3.9 v6 and i had to put a timing chain and gears in and now i can get it to fire no spark all it does it whirl over and again no spark from dist. to coil...

check to make sure distributor electrical wires been reconnected to distributor.and check to make sure distributor is receiving 8 volts supply from the pcm.check see if orange wire going to distributor to pcm getting power. because spark plugs not firing could be pcm, coil itself bad or crankshaft sensor bad. i would code scan vechicle before buying new parts ignition.timing off if you did not have distributor in number 1 firing position before removing the timing chain.

I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus that refuses to start in the rain. It will crank but it just wont turn over. Its a 6 cyl 3.0L engine, if that helps... Ive had many suggestions but none of them have panned out....

Hi, the most common reason for a car not starting in the rain is found in the spark plugs. Wire insulation can wear thin and this causes the voltage to arc to the metal of the car engine rather then going into the spark plug. You can check for this visually by opening the hood when it's wet outside and trying to start the car. You might be able to see an arc from the spark plug wires. Secondly check the distributor cap. Take a good physical examination of your distributor cap for any signs of a cracks. Also remove the distributor cap and check the inside of it for moisture. If you find any, wipe it clean; it won't work while wet.

If it was running fine, till you replace the valve cover gasket, then fuel pump and filter is not the trouble, check make sure all elec. wires are connected, ground wires also.

Car just stopped running. Lost power suddenly.

Find an inductive pickup indicator for spark. Place on distributor cap to see if spark is at coil internal tower. If no spark at internal tower, look at ignition module or pickup coil. Ignition modules are prone to failure on 626's. But if you have spark at tower but not at the wire end, then your rotor is gone.

1997 Dodge Stratus, 2.5L 4 cyl engine. Engine diagnosis from a trouble reader = cylinder 3 misfiring. The plug and spark plug wire are good. I don't know how too test the electronic ignition or the fuel...

Test the compression in that cylinder. Make sure you have the correct plugs, and good wires, as well as the cap and rotor button. If you have good compression, and the plugs and all are good, I would suspect either a bad fuel injector, bad head, or a bad distributor.
