The first time
this happened I received message 'transaction not available' as each electrical
option shutdown.
Car would not restart without a boost ; would not continue
to run after a boost.
2nd time - noticed gauges not working then ABS and
traction control and stopped working - I spun out of control.
Car would still
run and tested the battery was fully charged.
Alternator and Battery have both Tested "Good"
Code Reader Shows no Problems
2nd Alternator
test - car ran.idled 15 minutes off Alternator without
any electrical
problems showing up
anyone know where to explore next ?

My 1997 Pontiac SSEI equipped with the supercharged 3.8L engine, stalls @ highway speeds. I have 175K miles on the car and have NO major problems. The car has had routine maintenance performed and just had a complete tuneup less than 5K ago. The fuel pump is reading is 42 psi @ idle. NO fault codes. Any ideas? Thanks. Dave
I am no mechanic but I had the same problem with my car. WE changed the crank sensor, cam sensor and finally the computer. It was A OK then the fuel went out once we changed the computer. My car was reading the same PSi on the fuel pump and reading no codes either. I hope this helps too. And if you do change the computer make sure you are aware that it needs to be programmed to your cars VIN number and that a dealer is about the only place that can do it unless you order from a place online that will do that for you in advance. I got mine done that way.
thanks Sharon
