Ets light comes on , and i can`t drive pass 30 miles an hour. what could it be?

    It must be the week for them to start going out. Everything I have read is that it is a sensor on the back of the gas petal. I just replaced this part a year ago.. how could it be?? Well I am taking mine to the shop tonight and hopefully have it fixed by tomorrow.. More news a 11 I will tell you how much it costs. Also my check engine light came on the same time the car bogged down witht he ets light

    I have the same issue on my 1999b Volvo. The gas pedal and the sensor have been checked and no trouble found. How do I make the light go away without taking to dealer?

For the ETS light, its covered in Volvo's callback guarantee for 2000 models upto 10years / 100000 miles

Actually, I received a notice late last year from a class action lawsuit regarding this ETS matter, and that warranty has been extended to 200,000 miles!

Well, the actual procedure is to drive the van far enough to let the engine computer sample a wide range of conditions. The standard method is 100 miles at various speeds including highway and city driving. You could do it in 30 or 50 mile runs but it needs to be over 50 miles total.

Timing belt might have slipped a tooth causing the engine to misfire. Check that the crankshaft and camshaft is in the correct position and the tensioner is working properly. Ideally, if the timing belt is replaced, the tensioner and the water pump also has to be replaced. Or you might be able to just replace the spring for the tensioner. A less than $5 part.

Check engine light and ets light come on and off on 96 cavalier
I have a 96 cavalier and if i forget to turn the gas cap until it clicks air gets in the tank and the ck. engine light comes on. So, don't forget that could be part of the problem
