I replaced the knock sensor, what else could be causing acceleration problems on hills?

My check engine light came on showing the code for a knock sensor, which we then replaced. I'm still having trouble going up hills (I lose acceleration.). And my check engine light comes on, but still says the same knock sensor code. What else could be causing this?

The knock sensor code does not always mean the sensor is faulty.
The sensor picks up noise and vibration in the engine such as a spark knock would generate, and the computer slows down the spark timing to fix it. If the noise or vibration continues, the code is set.
Could be a noisy valve, or a problem with the crankshaft or other component.

Check your tail pipe for color. If insides are black you are running rich and it all may boil down to an oxygen sensor or an EGR valve. EGR valves are the most common causes for the 'check engine' light to come on. Your trouble codes will tell you what it is. Some auto stores will check it for free or you can buy an inexpensive checker.

SOURCE: P0420 and check engine light

A p0420 code is set when the computer determines that the catalytic converter isn't doing it's job. In almost all instances that code can't set as a result of a bad o2 sensor so they probably didn't have to be replaced. The catalytic converter will need to be replaced, prefferably by an oem part. This can be pretty expensive and should be considered before purchasing the vehicle.

I have replaced a few bad converters on late model subarus in the past few years.

SOURCE: KNOCK SENSOR KEEP GOING OUT

Make sure you are not over torquing it. if you screw it in to much, it will give false readings and if it is not screwed in enough, it will also give false readings.

There's a delicate balance to be known and, if this sensor is over torqued or, not torqued enough, it will malfunction.

SOURCE: 98 Nissan Maxima - Check Engine Light, Knock Sensor

If the car is pinging you will set a knock sensor code.'
This comes from bad gas and running lean., You really need this professionally inspected to rule out the basics. I have seen alot of nissans with the knock sensor code stored but the light is still off.
Fill up the tank with high octane chevron and some techron injector cleaner and clear the light. If it stays off for a couple days then go get it inspected. Even if the code is stored it will still pass as long as the light is still off and the monitors have run.

Car wont accelerate when going up hills and sometimes when depressing accelerator the car wont respond, its sluggish,Any ideas on what is causing this sluggishness?

May be a clogged catalytic converter, that will cause the exact problem. Also a throttle position sensor may cause this but will most likely set an engine code. If the check engine light is lit you should have the car scanned for codes. Scan it for codes even if it's not lit as it may have stored codes in history. Hope this helps.

I have a code p0325 knock sensor 1, circuit bank 1 or single sensor problem

A knock sensor tells the engine computer when one or more of your engine's cylinders are "knocking", that is, exploding the air/fuel mixture in a way that delivers less power and can be damaging to the engine if prolonged. The computer uses this information to tune the engine so that it doesn't knock. If your knock sensor wasn't operating properly, so that it was always indicating a knock, the engine computer's response may have been to change the ignition timing on your engine. Knock sensors generally bolt into or thread into the engine block.

This P0325 code may show up intermittently or the Service Engine light may be lit constantly. Other knock sensor related DTC codes include P0330.

Symptoms: You may notice drivability problems including a lack of power and perhaps some hesitation. There may also be other symptoms.

Causes: A code P0325 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
* The knock sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
* There is a wiring short/fault in the knock sensor circuit

Possible Solutions
* Check the resistance of the knock sensor (compare it to factory specs)
* Check for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor
* Replace the knock sensor

Test it and tell us news.

2000 chevy silverado 1500 4.8 service engine light went on read code P0327 knock sensor low input bank 1. I had both knock sensors replaces along with pcm. After just a few miles on the road service light...

It could be that your knock sensor circuit is working perfectly. You may have a knock that it is reading for long periods.
Try running it disconnected, and see if there is a clatter or knock when accelerating lightly.

You could have a vacuum leak.
