As with any no start issue you will need to figure out if you are dealing with a no spark or no fuel problem to proceed. Check the plugs for spark and the fuel pressure the next time it will not start.
Could be a faulty relay, ignition module, coil or other electrical component.

SOURCE: CAR RUNS FINE UNTIL IT WARMS UP, THEN IDLES ROUGH

It's tough to be precise with this amount of information, but the issue is obviously partially related to your choke function. Your year and engine is probably a 2.2 or 2.3 liter inline four, and it may have direct port fuel injection. So, the choke is not like a simple butterfly flap on the old carburetors, but the function is the same. The computer commands a heavier air/fuel mix during warm up and then tapers off to a standard mix when operating temperature is reached. There is also a "closed loop" operation when the computer is actively managing the air/fuel mix and an "open loop" operation when it is not.

Since your engine is failing to idle when it reaches operating temp, and since it seems to run okay when the choke function is still commanding for a rich mixture, it may indicate that your fuel delivery is much too lean during normal operation--so lean, in fact, that the engine can't run! In other words, the rich mixture during warmup may be masking the underlying problem.

There are an array of sensors for the computer that tell it when the operating temperature is reached and what the air-fuel mixture is. The computer uses these inputs to determine it's actions. When these sensors fail they may or may not set off your check engine light. If that light is on, you can use a code reader to help you narrow down where to look for a problem. If it is not on, you need to do some deeper diagnostic work, sometimes testing each sensor and wiring harness one by one.

It's impossible to say what to look for without more information, but the general issue does seem related to fuel delivery and/or the computer's ability to know through the sensors what the engine needs.

SOURCE: 1995 Chevy Lumina Minivan. Transmission stops

Is the fluid level OK? You can check this with the engine running and parking break set. Gain access to the eigine compartment and find the dip stick for the transmission. Please be careful of moving parts when the engine is running. Pull it out and wipe it off with the clean towel. Install the stick and remove it and see if you have a level reading. If not, fill it with the correct Dex type GM fluid that may be stamped on the dip stick. You can ask for help at an auto parts store is you need assistance on the fluid.

If this is OK or your vehicle is not equiped with a transmissing dip stick, you might want to have the transmission serviced (Fluid and filter changed) The transmission shop can also advise you about the mechanical condition of your bands in your transmission and make adjustements if needed.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: "2003 Chevy Impala won't start". Car would not

The alternator is not charging,or the battery wont take a charge. If all accessories work fine when its running after you've boosted it,its likely the battery.

Try getting your transmission solenoid replaced. After I got mine replaced it ran fine after that. That's the exact same thing my Lumina was doing.

Had a similiar problem with mine. Ignition control module will overheat and the vehicle will not be able to restart until the vehicle and ignition module cool back down. Ignition control module probably bad.

My truck back fires in the mrng why

check the engine coolant temp sensor. this sensor regulates fuel until the engine warms up. if the sensor is telling the ECM that the engine is warm on start up then it leans the fuel control out.

Car runs great until it get about 180 degrees andthen shuts off let it cool off a lil bit its starts back up until it shuts off again why

I am thinking that perhaps the temperature sensor is reading wrong and therefore sending a message to the computer that the car is running too hot. This can happen, my VW presently reads 20 hotter on the guage than a heat gun records at the temp sensor location on the head. If you have access to a heat gun it might be a good idea to check out the actual temperature, but it probably won't hurt to change the sensor.

The other problem that occurs to me is the oil sending sensor. While a temperature sensor won't shut an engine down, the oil sender can. If it is reading a large drop in oil pressure it will shut the engine off. Since oil gets thinner as it gets hot, perhaps a defective sending unit is reading it as too low. Once the oil cools off, it would restart until the temperature gets too high again. I would think that upgrading to a heavier oil might cure the problem. I don't know what you are currently usung but certainly you could go to 10W30 or 10W40 without too much trouble, at least for a test. Hope this helps.
