what it sounds like, is the serpentine fan belt may not have been put back on the right way?or like you said the alternator, but first make sure all the wiring to the alternator didn't get knocked loose. good luck.

try taking off your fuse panel cover, there should be a reset button in there.

Normal operation is for the pump to run for a few seconds every time the vehicle is started. After this, the level sensor will determine whether or not the pump should run. Sounds like the sensor is not activating the pump.

I had the same problem. The mechanic could not get the compressor to take in new freon. It has to do with the car's memory. You have to reset it by disconnecting the hot wire from the battery which for thirty seconds. This resets the cars internal memory, so it won't remember that it's out of freon. Reconnect it turn on the car and turn on the air the compressor will start.

I have a 1999 Cadillic Deville. The low Frefrigerant indicater come on after about 15 minutes of disconnecting the battery power. Each Time I reset the power the air conditioner comes back on for a while then goes out. I have taken it into the local auto repair place and they find no problem with the unit.
Could this be a intermittent connection to the computer. They have replaced both sencors and the problem persists. Where is the computer located on the car that handles this AC sensor message?

You were told that your low on a/c refrigerant by the
message

Now the check light related or not has to be addressed,
by checking for codes & diagnosing the effected system

Your a/c system needs repair,not added to, only to leak out
& polute the atmosphere

Something is draining my battery on my 1998 Cadillac DeVille

I suspect parasitic draw. All vehicles draw some power from the batteries when the car is shut off. Certain accessories such as clocks, radios remote door openers and alarms always need power. The normal power used is called parasitic draw.

It is always a very low draw so it doesn't run the battery down. If you install accessories like shortwave radios or plug things like inverters and portable refrigerators into the accessory socket and operate them too long without the engine running you can drain your batteries to the point where the engine won't start. If there is an electrical short in the vehicle or a malfunctioning accessory it could be drawing much more than its normal load causing a drain on the batteries. If you leave your door open and the inside lights stay on all night you could drain the battery down till the car won't start.

In all probability because the air conditioning refrigerant is low !!. Take it to an a/c shop, have them check the pressure on the refrigerant, and have it brought back to spec. pressure. It is advisable to check for leaks around the system in order to detect what caused the gas loss in the first place.

My 2003 cadillac deville makes 2-3 clicks then it starts, what could that be?

2 possible problems could be low charge on the battery (if it's the original battery it's definitely time for a new 1) a slick serpentine belt could also cause a low charge on the battery. A bad starter will require more and more energy to start the car until eventually it won't start the car at all.

Want to know what to do to get the compressor to turn to put refrigant in a/c on my 1998 cadillac deville.i know how to put it in ,but don't know to do to reboot the compressor.the dash says a/c off low...

you can locate the low limit switch and unplug it and use a wire to jump the terminals in the socket..that will start the compressor, car running of course, then add proper amt freon and plug switch back in
The switch should be on an ac line and have 2 wires
