92 Honda Accord hard start when cold

The oil drains out of the hydaulic lifters overnight and will take a short period of time to refill them when cold.

When is really cold, and vehicles with non electrical power steering start for the first time after a good period of inactivity the power steering pump tents to wine, that is normal, some other cars or almost all the cars when they pass 100.000 miles develop a little metallic noise that goes away when the oil pump distributes and lubricates all moving parts inside the engine when the car starts first thing in the morning in a really cold morning.

replace temp sensor its not telling the computer the correct temp..

Has this vehicle ever had a fuel pump replaced?
If not I would have a fuel pressure test preformed on the vehicle. Sounds like check ball in the pump not doing its job and giving you residual pressure when it feels like it.

Timing belt ever been changed? Sure does sound like the problem. An old belt will snap on a cold start. Might want to look to see if the belt is tight and in place. These belts break regularly on Hondas with over 70,000 miles on them. Timing Belt change interval is 50,000.

When it's very cold and the car will start right away, the most common thing that happens is the engine will flood. When you turn the key to start, the gas is sprayed into the engine. It does not know that the car didn't start and will continue to spray gas as long as the key it turned to start. That is why you should not crank for longer than 20-30 seconds at a time.
Then if it will not start, hold your gas pedal all the way to the floor, and the gas spray is stopped, so that the extra gas can be expelled. You can now try to start agian normally.

very common change the temp sensor for the computer. it thinks it is warm when it is cold and doesn't inrich fuel like a choke would. causing to have a hard start. good luck
