This is typical of the BMW, the name for the part to be replaced is under many names from BMW it either called Oil drain back valve.Crankcase oil seperator or better yet they should stick to the name PVC vavle,When this valve rupture internally either two things happen you burn and smoke oil like crazy,or you get strong vacuum in the crankcase as you are experiencing. The valve is located under the intake toward the front of the engine to remove you will need to remove the throttle body,
SOURCE: the oil is running out from the oil filler cap
Make sure the pcv valve is working correctly and allowing the engine to breath
SOURCE: engine blowing oil from oil filler cap
I had the same problem. I changed the pcv valve and checked the hose. It still did the same thing. Then I checked the metal tubing that the hose connects to and found it was full of hardened gunk. I sprayed PB Blaster into the tube let it soak for awhile. Then took an old choke cable, put it on a drill and ran it into the tube like a drain snake. It took a while of doing this over and over but eventually got it cleared out. Now, no more oil all over the engine and hood compartment.

The p0455 code means,
Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow or large leak)
After you install the new gas cap, reset the code, dirve the car for a couple of days to see if the code comes back, if it comes back there might be a leak in your evap lines.

Normal, inspect the PCV valve if it seems excessive and you might have some blow by too.
SOURCE: Engine oil moisture
Known issues or not,It sounds like the head gasket is blown,or it has a cracked head.If it was water it would be thick and light grey in color on the dip stick,But yellow indicates antifreeze leak that has not had time to mix with the oil.
