This is typical of the BMW, the name for the part to be replaced is under many names from BMW it either called Oil drain back valve.Crankcase oil seperator or better yet they should stick to the name PVC vavle,When this valve rupture internally either two things happen you burn and smoke oil like crazy,or you get strong vacuum in the crankcase as you are experiencing. The valve is located under the intake toward the front of the engine to remove you will need to remove the throttle body, when i take off oil filler cap on my bmw it makes - 8_12_2012_4_17_26_am.jpg

SOURCE: engine blowing oil from oil filler cap

I had the same problem. I changed the pcv valve and checked the hose. It still did the same thing. Then I checked the metal tubing that the hose connects to and found it was full of hardened gunk. I sprayed PB Blaster into the tube let it soak for awhile. Then took an old choke cable, put it on a drill and ran it into the tube like a drain snake. It took a while of doing this over and over but eventually got it cleared out. Now, no more oil all over the engine and hood compartment.

SOURCE: Service engine soon light is on- 2003 BMW

The p0455 code means, Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow or large leak)
After you install the new gas cap, reset the code, dirve the car for a couple of days to see if the code comes back, if it comes back there might be a leak in your evap lines.

SOURCE: bmw 318is air comes out of the oil filler cap

Normal, inspect the PCV valve if it seems excessive and you might have some blow by too.

SOURCE: Engine oil moisture

Known issues or not,It sounds like the head gasket is blown,or it has a cracked head.If it was water it would be thick and light grey in color on the dip stick,But yellow indicates antifreeze leak that has not had time to mix with the oil.

Can I use 50/50 engine oil in my W reg Ford Focus

You should only use the oil recommended for your vehicle as shown in the manual - and sometimes printed on the oil filler cap of the engine. Thinner oils (lower numbers) are usually used in cold weather and thicker oils (higher numbers) in hot weather.

I have a bmw 330i 2006 and i have oil coming out of the oil filler cap thats on top of the engine what could be the problem because the cap it self looks fine and tight

You may be having problems with the crankcase pressure regulating valve (PCV). If this is clogged or malfunctioning, pressure can build up inside the engine and blow oil out the filler tube.

Y bmw 320i is surging when hot from 2000 to 4000 revs and returns but intermitent sprayed front belts with wd40 could i have contaminated the crankshaft senor also got new battery but my wife wont dr

Any chance this fault has happened just after topping up engine oil. Oil filler cap not seating properly will give same symptoms. The cap and surround have arrows that need aligned in order for it to be fully seated. Check oil cap first.

Where is the filler cap located in my bmw 325i 2002 model

Your question did not specify what "filler cap".
The above response from FTjoe is for the power steering filler cap.

The following RealOEM link is for the engine oil filler cap (Item 4) which is square and black and is on top of the engine. It goes through the plastic cover into the cylinder cover

Bmw 318i oil leak

make sure that the filler cap seal is in place and not gone hard over time also has the rocker cover been off at some stage if it has check that the gasket has not moved the other thing to look out for is that the PCV (breather )valve is in good working order if it is damaged the sump compression will rise and push oil out

Can you see the timing belt when you look at the engine

Hi,
Even if your car had a timing belt you would not be able to see it as it would be protected under covers ,ALL modern BMW engines use a timing chain sometimes when you remove the oil filler cap you can see it .

I have a 1999 323I BMW and i think i need antifreeze but i'm not sure. A light came on and it is a picture of a tank with liquid in it with a spout...i'm not sure what that icon means on my dashboard. ...

either is antifreeze or is the oil light.
cooling tank is in the front of the car. look for a fan, the cooling tank is infront of the fan. open the cap (make sure the car is cold). and see if there is water or antofreez in it. add as you needed. also follow a tube from the side of the filler neck. you should see a container, that should be a over flow container. fill that to the line on the container. close the cap. and make a 90 degree turn. it should be tight.
the oil is on the button of the engine. you should see a dip stick with a color handle near the engine. pull it out and use a paper towel clean it, put it back and pull it out again. take a look at the tip of the stick. there should a marking indicating where the oil should be. half qt of oil if dip stick shows half way between the mark, and full qt if the dip stick indicated below the marker. fill the engine (filler is on top of the engine.) with oil.
