Restricted Performance light and lag in acceleration.

I have a 2005 jaguar s-type with 115,000 miles. When I try to accelerate past 60 mph, the restricted performance mesage pops up and my car lags. Sometimes, I will have to stop, turn off the car, allow it to cool down, and restart after a few minutes. I have had the spark plugs replaced last year but the problem still occurs. Any other suggestions?

SOURCE: cylinder 8 misfire, restricted performance is also coming on

you may have to replace the cowl pack itself that sit on top of the spark plug and sometimes you can get by just changing the boot wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

SOURCE: jaguar s-type restricted performance

I had the same problem. Restricted performance and running rough at 3000 RPM. I have an OBDII code reader and found that the problem was in the air mass flow sensor, which is just after the air filter. I pulled this out and found it was dirty and had butterfly wings in it. The last shop where I had the oil changed replaced the filter for me but put in the wrong size. Close but no cigar. Bought some *** Flow Sensor cleaner at auto store and fixed the problem. Get an OBDII reader with the ability to erase the codes. Comes in real handy.

Why is my 2001 Jaguar XJ8L 4.0L check engine warning on continuously with restricted performance warning on both sporadically and continuously at times?

I would think you need to find a service center that can scan your computer and find out what is not working correctly.

Restricted performance light came on after emissions testing and the car cannot be driven at speeds above 45 MPH without lurching. Do you know what happened with testing? Thanks. Walt Drubka

disconnect the battery and join the pos and neg cables together ,leave for a cup of tea and a ciggy then try again .this trick cures lots of faults on this model jaguar which is really a ford mondeo unlike my XJ4.0 straight six .Also go to www.jec.org the jaguars owners club web site ,
