When I go down the road in my car, there is a noticeable "thumping" sort of vibration coming from the front passenger wheel area(the faster I go, the faster the sound gets), at first I thought it was because that tire had a bulge in it, but after replacing that tire, it was still there.
At around 35+ MPH, that is when it starts to be audible, and noticeable. When I drive at 35+ MPH around a curve to the right, the noise goes away, even while I maintain speed, or accelerate. If a shock were to "break", or whatever it does when it goes bad, does that make that particular wheel bounce all over the place, creating that horrible noise? I suspect a broken shock, and a backyard mechanic suspected that also, but he did not know about the noise that goes on.. help! I don't want my tire to fall off while I go down the road!!!!
I have a.2005 Chevy equinox and it'starting to make a thump noise in the front it's not a flat tire it's not the rotors idk what it could it be I need help the faster I go the louder it gets.Just need some advice could it be the trtransmission?
If the noise isassociated with "wheel speed" then it is in the rolling parts... axle hub bearing brake rotor caliper wheel or tires...if it goes away on right turns then you are unloading or separating the issue then...so a hub /wheel bearing /axle issue is most likely...does your brake pedal pulse when you feel it..(riding the brake while driving)..does the steering wheel shimmy ?
ok...you're mr test guinnea pig.. rotate right side tire/wheels and report..front to back..that side only
oopers..'scuse...i should commend you...your description and detail in explaining your problems are first class top notch...something i wish ALL genders would do ...kudos girl!! woot woot...makes it an honor to help any way i can...so let me know the way the car drives/feels after switching tires ....you are my ears and hands

The steering wheel does shimmy, a bit. Its always shimmied, but not at
such a low speed, usually it was at 65-75 MPH. As for the brake pedal
pulsing, no, it doesn't pulse. I had the front brakes completely
overhauled a 1.5-2 months ago. Calipers, Rotors, Pads, Hardware, etc...
(600+ dollars later!!!! Car isn't worth that!!!)
Hopefully the shimmying of the steering wheel will help you narrow it down. heheh
MISS test guinea pig! har har
I have the same problem but with a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. The
thumping sound is coming from the drivers side wheel area and ceases to
make noise when I turn left or apply the brakes. Turning right however
makes a louder noise. Steering wheel shakes at speeds above 35 mph and brake pedal does the same. I bled the brakes about a week ago and didn't
bleed the ABS pump or HCU. Book says that not doing this could cause
your pedal to become spongy overtime, but did not state that any other
damage could occur.
