Our Explorer has been starting but occasionally won't start. We replaced the battery, the fuel pump, the starter, the alternator, had it on the diagnostic two weeks ago after it wouldn't start for 3 days, they said it was the positive battery terminal, replaced it, but it wouldn't start again today.

When it doesn't start have you tried to see what is missing , spark or fuel ? Pull a spark plug wire off of a plug an get a spark tester at the auto parts store . Hook up a fuel pressure gauge an test fuel pressure . When you find out what's missing look on youtube for video's on how to test ,fuel system or ignition system . Or Take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

SOURCE: Engine turns over but won't start / 1995 F-150

Sounds alot like the ignition sensor. In my old Chevys it was under the dist cap, mounted on the dist itself. Mine was flat, slightly curved rectangle shape, with two flat prongs coming out both sides. If it would get an internal break in it, you cant see it. I would have the same problem as you, part was only about $12. And comes out with unscrewing two screws.
Might want to give it a shot.

2000 explorer won't start cranks OK, drove it to the store with no problems got back in won't turn over to start.

Try some starting fluid, if it wants to run then you need to check the Inertia switch. The location of this switch is behind the passengers foot kickpanel.

There is a Reset button that you push and it will reconnect the fuelpump. Please rate my info. You can try the Reset without testing with starting fluid but the fluid verifies fuel starvation as the problem.

2002 ford explorer eddie bauer crank but won't start up.

Hello
The engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPEDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

2002 Ford Explorer ran out of gas put gas in and won't restart. replaced fuel pump and fuel filter still won't start. Cranks but won't start

Most Fords have a fuel reset button. When you ran out of gas you tripped the circuit. Most of the time the button will be on the passenger side by the kick panel. The exact location should be in your owners manual or your local library or auto parts store will have a copy of one for your specific vehicle.
