2006 Chevy Trailblazer Rear Tail Light

Hello reichweinj,

In a previous note in November concerning my Chevy 2006 Trailblazer left rear tail light, you mentioned that a recall on the rear tail light fixture was in effect. Took the car to the dealer and he said there was no recall on the left rear tail light assembly. Can you provide additional information so I can straighten out the repair guys. Thanks a million.

Yes there was a recall on the brake lights, but I don't believe 06+ was included. NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V527000
Manufacturer GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
Components EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Potential Number of Units Affected 871,473

My 03 was included and fixed, but my 06 is not. Hope that clarify's. More than likely it's the same darn problem, kind of like the master door switch recall (melting). Not all years were included in the recall, BUT ALL years suffer from this problem. Maybe have them check the problem that the 03's were having.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. The tail light does not work.

I had to go back twice to get the taillight fixed from the recall, just go back and tell them it went out again, they will fix it for free.

The left rear tail light don't work the license plate light don't work. The left rear turn signal, back up,and brake lights all work ,all the lights on the right side rear work. 06 trailblazer chevy.

My guess is one of those lamps is burned out, therefore not sending current to the next. My second guess is that the license plate light is last in line, so I would start with the left tail light

03 Chevy Trailblazer left rear taillight will not work. Brake light, back up light & turn signal all work. Right rear all work. Replaced bulbs, switched sides, still nothing.

There was a recall on this, see your local Chevrolet dealer.... Recall Date: NOV 01, 2004 Model Affected: 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer Summary: ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, VIBRATION AND HEAT MAY CAUSE THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP BULB TO LOOSEN IN ITS SOCKET. IF THIS OCCURS, THE BULB MAY FLICKER AND EVENTUALLY BECOME INOPERATIVE. Consequences: AN INOPERATIVE BRAKE LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION OF STOPPING TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES, AND AN INOPERATIVE REAR TURN SIGNAL LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION TO TURN TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES. BOTH OF THESE FAILURES CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP ASSEMBLIES, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OLDSMOBILE AT 1-800-630-6537, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463. Potential Units Affected: 871473 Notes: GENERAL MOTORS CORP. 2006 Chevy Trailblazer...the top "third"

Brake light problem - if bulbs and fuses (#34 and #43 in rear fuse panel) are good, then only other possibility are the circuit boards where all the tail lights are located.

Noise coming from rear is the mode control actuator in the rear HVAC unit, it is trying to move a stuck blend door.

Need help for rear tail light assembly on my 2003 trailblazer

Most of the time you can simply remove the tail light assembly from the car pretty easy and just a few screws. If it sdoes not have the screws going through the front of the housing then its rear mount and must be done by lifting the tailgate to get access. Once in the vehicle you should beable to remove the plastic housing covering up the assembly from the inside. Remove the 3-4 screws or bolts and the tail light assembly. Install the new one just the reverse. Pretty easy just take your time.

No brake lights

Took my Trailblazer to dealership. They replaced both rear tail light socket boards (these are plastic parts that house all of the rear lamps/bulbs and attach to tail light housing) They advised the sockets in the boards have a tendency to go bad. Everything works just fine. Cost of each part was approximately $29.00. Easy to replace yourself and save the labor.

Left rear tail lights/ blinker will not come on

Blinker too fast, the same side blinker light bulb on the front (or back) is burned. Check the fuses for the rear lights. You might have a light bulb filament stuck.
