I found the VTEC solenoid under the engine at rear and passager side after saw your photo. I found one of the two wires the the solenoid plug is cut off. After I solder the wire and restart the engine, the TCS light turned off. But the Check Engine light kept on. I took the cable to the nagative pole of the batter off for more than 5 minutes then put it back. The Check Enigne light is off now. Thank you again for the help! Right now there is only SRS light is on. Do you happend to know how to open the seatbelt buckle? I believe the switch inside is broken.

SOURCE: Check engine light + TCS = braking vibrations

You need to get to a repair shop and have them read the diagnostic codes (the computer port is in the center console under the change holder/lighter). With that amount of mileage, it is very likely the code will show that the oxygen sensors and/or catalytic converters need replacement. If that is the case you will also need a tuneup (plug, wires, etc). I had this done a year ago at 160,000 miles. It is a pricey repair but I get 29mpg at highway speeds and it runs nicely on regular (less power but no pinging).

SOURCE: tcs light, check engine light flashing and constant shaking..

Use an OBDII scanner, some auto parts stores will do this for you free of charge.
Codes P0300 through P0306 indicate mis-fire and you may also get codes reflecting Cat damage from running that way.
I know of one TL from this series (2000 3.2 TL) which had a warranty REPLACEMENT OF TRANSMISSION!!! free of charge and this very problem was solved. I still do not know why they were related. Talk to Acura customer relations about this.

I have a 2002 Accord. Owned for 5 years, no problems ever. Had oil changed at Grease Monkey and everything was good. Later the same day the check engine light and TCS light come on. Car runs and drives...

oil vis, and type not started or climate or location, or?
what oil, did you tell them or let them do there THING...????

read the fSM, under P1259
see what the test does.
or go any real ASE mechanic, older cars , do fail.
if oil level is good, you didnt check this, never trust them , always check your fluid levels your self. or lunch a good engine. or ???over or under filled, or leaking oil filter never set tight? check it.
feel it, dont guess,
first off it might be the oil changer used wrong oil, say 30w ?
or started car and the pressure did not build fast enough and tripped this code, reset it and see if it comes back.

How to fix VTEC System Malfunction code P1259

It is the wire close to the VTEC valve solenoid plug be cut off. Sounds wired, but it happened to my 2001 accord EX V6 sedan. After I solder it back, the TCS light turned off. But I had to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and put it back to reset the Check Engine light.

1990 volvo 740gl far left corner of dashboard has a yellow light thats on constantly. a diagram of a car with a zigzag road. whats that mean.

Either you have a problem with the TCS (Traction Control System), or the TCS is switched off. Most cars with TCS have a button on the shift or the dash labeled "TCS" or "TCS OFF". Find the button, and press it with the car running in gear. If the light goes out, problem solved.
If you cannot manually disengage TCS (no button), or when you press the TCS button the light flashes, check all your brakes and make sure none are dragging or worn out. Also make sure all your tires are properly inflated and balanced, and none are worn out.
TCS works by controlling your brakes on slippery roads and will dynamically apply the brakes to each wheel in order to prevent a skid, even when your foot is not on the brake pedal. During normal driving, the TCS light is out and will either come on briefly or flash when it is active and preventing your car from going into a skid. When the light is on constantly, the system is disabled- either because it was shut off by the driver pressing the TCS (or TCS OFF) button, or because the system has detected a brake problem and automatically disabled it for safety reasons. Worn or dragging brakes, a tire that is flat or worn, or even a wheel that is badly out of balance will cause the system to disable itself, and a severe wheel alignment problem will also.

Tcs light came on with my 2000 honda odyssey, what does that mean?

TCS = Traction Control System

The TCS light is on because the check engine light is on this is common repair the check engine light failure abd the tcs will go back to normal.

You need to check the code to see if it is a trans code and then if it falls under the bulletin limits Honda will replace the trans under warranty. Even if you are out of warranty Honda will sometimes do a partial warranty. Here's a copy of the Bulletin.

There are several things that will turn the check engine light and tcs light on .if you get the code I can tell you exactly what the problem is . on your year i see transmission problems as well as egr problems. if you go to any large auto parts store they will check the code for free or a very small fee.

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

TCS warning light is on. Check engine light is on. Reduced engine power light is on. the accelerator wont work when pressed all the time. when revving it up it will not rev over 3k in neutral.

There are literally thousands of codes that can cause the check engine light to come on. There is no way to guess why yours is on based on your symptoms. Many auto part stores will scan your engine computer and give you a print out of the codes for free, unless you live in CA. We would need to know what these codes are to give you an accurate reason you are having issues. FYI, modern engines won't rev past 3000-3500 rpm in neutral. This is to prevent engine and torque converter damage.

Engine light came on and TCS light what is it

the TCS light is Traction Control System. It works with the anti-lock brake system. When the computer senses wheelspin, it rapidly pulse-brakes that wheel to keep the spinning to a minimum.

If both the check engine light and TCS light are on, you have a trouble code waiting to be read. Major auto parts stores will read your codes for free.

The TCS light came on and the car started jerking especially at stops. The light would go off for a while after restarting the car but the same problems would happen and the light would eventually come...

The TCS stands for Traction Control System, I believe. The TCS is controlled by inputs from the wheel speed sensors. If you have a bad sensor, then a new hub may be required to repair it.

The check engine light may be a sepawrate problem. Have the codes scanned for both the Anti lock braking sytem, TCS, and the check engine light.

Sometimes it will require a separate scanner for the TCS/ABS vs. the Check Engine light.

Good luck on this diagnosis and repair.

Our 2000 Honda Odyssey shifts hards between 1st and 2nd gear when accelerating fast. The check engine light and TCS lights are on. We just had the transmission replaced 2 years ago. Had it hooked up and it...

I'm not sure why you got that code definition. P1259 in the factory manual reads, "VTEC system malfunction". According to the manual you are supposed to reset the powertrain control module (PCM) then road test--accelerating in first gear to over 4000 rpm and hold that rpm for at least two seconds. If the code does not repeat then do the road test two more times just to be sure. If the code does repeat during the three acceleration tests, then the VTEC pressure switch and solenoid valve should be checked. If the code does not repeat during the three acceleration tests, then the system had an intermittant fault. As for the TCS light being on, I know this may sound simple but is the TCS switch off? If it is, that will cause the light to come on. The TCS light is more applicable to an ABS brake system problem. If the transmission has a fault, you should see a diagnostic code that begins with P07xx or P17xx. The green D4 drive light may also blink. Based on your symptoms of excessive shock in 1-2 upshifts, the book suggests the shift solenoid valve C could be defective, or the 2nd clutch pressure switch or the circuit could be defective, or there could be foreign material in the separator plate orifice, or seven other possible causes. I would suggest clearing the code and replacing the transmission fluid with genuine Honda fluid and then see if the code and the symptoms return.
