1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee hesitates to start, but it starts. When I give it gas it dies. I changed the fuel filter, but that didn't work. Any suggestions on what I can do?
You'll need to check the fuel pressure w/ a gauge you can get at most auto parts stores. Not sure what it should be for your SUV but probably in the 40 psi to 60 psi. It should also hold that pressure when shut off. If you do replace the fuel pump, strongly recommend that you use an OEM part as aftermarket ones while cheaper tend to have a short life.

If you have the V8 engine, the filter is actually part of the fuel pump. WHICH IS IN THE TANK

Probably the upstream o2 sensor (could be downstream).
or the other possibility it
could be a vacuum leak.
just check out .that will solve your problem.

You should add a rs4 performance chip or the fuel economy chip also made by rs4. there like 70 bucks. If the problem is electrical changing your chip could solve the problem. Even if is doesnt work the chip will make your truck idle more smoothly, have better throttle response, and you will add 3-7 mpg. I bought one for my 1997 jeep grand cherokee straight six, and it felt like i was driving a different truck . It mae that much of a difference...you cant loose!!!Like everyone says , it could be a vac leak or a clogged fuel filter , soetimes bad gas...your problem is a needle in haystack. Try the chip...I hope this helps

It's 5.2L
Also, someone told me it could be the fuel pump but I wasn't sure. I'd rather start with the smaller things it could be rather than paying $300+ for a fuel pump and it not be the problem.
