CAR NOT ACCELERATING SMOOTHLY

WHEN ACCELLERATING CAR FEEL LIKE IT'S PULLING BACK THEN SURGES JUST ACCELLARATING SMOOTHLY

  • D Woudenberg May 11, 2010

Are you referring to the delay from the time the gas peddle hits the floor till the feeling of acceleration?  If so this most likely  due to the shift settings. I've heard that it is to extend drivetrain life by reducing some of the forces in the transmission (knocking or hammering).
If that is not what you were referring too please describe the pulling back. cheers

How do I fix Toyota camry accelerating issue?

Check the Fluid Level of your Transmission, You could also have worn clutches but I would start with the Transmission Fluid Level. Be VERY CAUTIOUS to use the Correct Transmission Fluid or you will damage your transmission and cause you quite the headache.

My car hesitates while shifting sometimes. when I hit the gas, my RPM's will go up, then they will usually drop right back down even if I am accellerating. sometimes, it doesn't even go into the right...

Much of the shifting in today's vehicles is done using various sensors and it seems some of them are off. You may need to take it to a shop for testing.

Engine surges under load and not under load

Surging is often caused by a bad sensor in the air/fuel supply - MAP, IAC or TPS. Check for trouble codes (DTCs) using a good code reader.

When accelerating from a stop, car lurches when shifting gears

On a lot of vehicles there is a transmission speed sensor that receives data that tells it how fast the car is going and shifts accordingly. If this sensor is bad the transmission can't function properly. I would have this checked, they are not that terribly expensive, and not that hard to change on most vehicles. Hope this helps.
