More info please. The air coming from the vents is not as cold as say last week ? Does it matter if you are sitting still or moving ? Any change in outside air temp ?

Turn off heater/air conditioner and accelerate briskly. If noise does not occur problem is probably a regulator in the heater/air conditioning system located under the dash.
unscrew the cap from your overflow and leave it off over night. the air in the system will naturally want to rise. the air pocket will be out by morning. make sure to fill you coolant back up then!
yes Mercedes changed the transmission service interval to 40k miles but then after that you don't have to service the transmission until you reach 140k miles. It is a good idea to the transmission serviced at this mileage especially for warranty purposes. There was a lot of issues with the new 722.9 transmission when it first came out. Which is one of the reasons Mercedes moved up the transmission service from 100k miles to 40k miles for the first time it needs to be serviced anyways. Plus if the transmission happens to need repairing the first thing the dealership will look for is to see if the trans service had been done at 40k miles before doing any kind of warranty work on the vehicle. As a former Mercedes Benz Tech at the dealership I would say yes it is necessary to get the trans serviced.
The A/C in my 2006 Passat 2.0 T is not working consistently. It seems to quit giving cold air when the outside temp is the hottest. It sometimes works fine until the engine is warmed up-then starts blowing hot air. Any Ideas?
You should have your a/c system ck'd. Reason could be excessive system pressure and temp. This would explain the a/c safety turning off the a/c and the temp rise of the engine cooling system. Good Luck.
Could be a faulty sender, but first go through the checklist following:-
1) Check engine cooling fan/s are operating as required when engine temp rises above cut-in threshold - check fan control relay is ok, 2) Check for collapsing radiator hose on suction side of water-pump when motor revs raised above idle. 3) Check coolantreservoir pressure cap is serviceable, 4) Check coolant system is properly filled - carry out any bleed off procedure specified to clear any air locks- (ensure heater core coolant flow is turned on). 5) Check condition of radiator core:- i) for blockage of air flow to (bugs/grass etc), ii) for core internal blockage to coolant flow,
does the engine idle faster when the air cond is on ..if not it may be the sensor that controls idle ,it has to go faster to compensate load ..anyway your radiator could be blocked feel the top hose n bottom should be a noticable temp differance
