We have a '95 V6 MPV and the engine has started to make a loud
tapping/knocking noise, usually when cold. The noise dies down after
the engine has got up to temperature and also stops at higher revs...
can anyone tell me if the noise is the lifters (see videos below)? Many
thanks!
The same thing happened to mine and i hade to replace the harmonic balancer and key
Tie rod ends?

Im thinking its the timeing belt and timeing belt tensioner. the sam problem happedned to me and my engine.
My strong guess without looking at it would be a cracked exhaust manifold, when it gets hot the metal expands an it doesn't leak.

Thanks for your input, Ghostsnake :-)
The noise seems to be coming from down the front end rather than up around the exhaust manifold and is very 'mechanical' as opposed to an un-muffled exhaust note. The noise also reduces when picking up the revs even when cold. I'll check it out a bit closer tomorrow though to see if I can determine exactly where it's coming from.
Thanks again!
Let me direct you to this link. The problem is a flaw and, if fixed, it comes back. Change the oil more than recommended.

The tensioner bolt sheared off but was running fine, just made a lot of noise up front that would come and go. It this motor an interference motor?
