Many things can cause resricted performance..I have a vanden plas and a xjr...and I have seen many things cause it from knock sensors, to water being sprayed on the engine or short circuiting throttle body sensors etc...the 1st thing you must do is have the code read that is causing the restricted performance ...let me know.
Thanks. I went to Advance and the tech there told me that the diagnostic said that it was "running lean". He said that i probably used gas that had water in it. I put a bottle of Seafoam in and the light went off. Am I safe? Or was that too easy?
I wouldnt recommend seafoam..the Jag dealerships normally use and cleaner made by the following BG-44K,AND 3M cleaners...for injectors and emissions..I would say it would be the preference of the individual.I will say I am a firm beleiver in the adage"If it is not broke dont try and fix it"If the cars mil lamp went off I would be content, but keep a close eye on her.The engine running lean or the opposite would mean that too much air or not enough could have been the real culprit. On these cars I have seen the air dryer induction at times will have a fine crack in it and will result in a maf sensor read too much or lean reading for air and fuel mixtures.Something tells me that you may see the restricted performance come back eventually.Make sure that the air dryer box containing the air filter is secure, the intake air running from the box to the throttle body is secured tightly with clamp.Last make sure the flat air catcher that runsdownward leading into the air dryer box surround has no cracks in it.Until next time happy Jaggingsmiling! Please dont be discourgaed about your car,it is a work of art and a true machine. They all have issues from the Rolls Royce to the Bugatti...The x350 is a solid Jaguars by all means.

SOURCE: Jaguar s-type restricted performance displayed
Its most likely the coils and spark plugs, sometimes caused by oil leaking from the valve cover gasket. The coils deteriorate over time from engine heat and need to be replaced at 90-100k
Local garages don't have the Jaguar diagnostics terminal and are unable to do more than find basic error codes with a reader. Its important to get this fixed because it's causing damage to your caltalytic converters. They are expensive.
SOURCE: I have the proper code
The radio has a yellow wire that goes to a constant hot. This is for your memory and clock. you need to hook it up to your fuse box battery side.
