You will need a compatible with Mercedes OBDII code reader to scan the car for any error codes.
If you can afford it, purchase one and it will pay off for itself after couple uses since dealer's diagnostic charge is $150-$200 in US.
Or you could go to official Mercedes shop and they will reset it for you.
You mean SRS..?
Mercedes call it Supplementary Restraint System - the seat belts and/or air bags.
Get a mobile mechanic or a workshop to do a diagnostic check for you to identify the fault.
It is on because there is a problem with the SRS. Take it to a dealer for repair, immediately. Do not attempt to repair yourself. Serious injury can occur if not done correctly.
You're not gonna believe this but if the center brake light is out on a 2000 ML320 the cruise control will not work. I went over the owners manual with a fine tooth comb and not once did it mention the center brake light in conjuction with a malfunctioning cruise control. The book did state however to bring the car into an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer.
Sounds like the Brake Safety switch. It is attatched to your brake pedal on the back, call your local Mercedes mechanic ask if they have one. Easy to replace and under 50 dollars.
SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System (Airbag). If the light os on then the airbag system is disabled and will not work in a collision.
To remedy this you must retreive the codes from the airbag computer, this must be done with a scan tool capable of reading that system on a mercedes. Once this is done repairing the problem should be fairly easy.
Most likely cause of a SRS light being on would be a disconnected wire or a broken clockspring.
