  • Onesheldons Feb 03, 2009

it goes from 210 degrees to 260 in 5 seconds or less but only after sitting at 210 for 10 minutes. I have replaced my thermostat, water pump, the sensor on the theremostat, all the hoses touching the radiatior and the radiator itself. What else is wrong????

Battery drain, fuse #12 in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

On the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee the # 15 fuse is the IOD circuit. (Ignition Off Drain) The # 12 fuse is the power windows. Both fuses are 50 amp.

This IOD fuse #15 powers the distribution box that contains the 50 amp fuse. Pull each fuse in the under hood.

Pull each fuse in the under dash. Check for on the passenger side floor is an additional fuse panel.

Before going to far suggest at night checking for any lights lit. The draw is about right for a small light bulb.

Typical draw for parked car is around 100 milliamps

Suggest that you disconnect power to the car for several minutes. Reconnect the battery. The object is to reset the body electronics module.

If the computers in the modules get a glitch they can cause a drain. By cycling the power, disconnecting battery, they will reset to factory settings. Reported it can take up to 20 minutes for the circuits to drain before you can reset!.

the following web site does a great job of explaining all that is going on. What appears to be simple to troubleshoot is not so easy. He comments about delay before sleep are important. Testing after overnight may result in a different drain rate. Make sure that your battery meets specifications. In 2000 the drain rate may be relatively high and the reserve capacity of your battery low.

No heat bulging rad. hose

Hose is bad and probably leaked some fluid while driving. Low fluid level will explain loss of heat. Hose has fiber reinforcement, if bulging it is bad. Look close you will find a hole, maybe pin sized. Replace hose, refill system, bleed out air by ... run engine till warm with rad cap off, turn heat on high & gently to med rev engine while topping off fluid.

Where is the air conditioner located under the hood in a 2000 jeep grand cherokee

If you have the 4.0 engine, it is bolted to the right of the engine and under the power steering pump.

Jeep grand cherokee drives then stops -no power to anything

More than likely you probably have a faulty relay switch. Under the hood you will find a relay box with a removable top. Check the relay that runs the ignition fuel pump. It heats up and then breaks the electrical current and disables the vehicles ignition or fuel system and the vehicle shuts down until the relay cools and reengages.

No heat

The likely culprit is your heater core. Simple test: Let you car warm up to Operating Temp. Run the heater. Under the hood on the fire wall you will see 2 black hoses conected to 2 aluminum lines about a 1/4 inch in size, feel both of these if they are not the same temp than you have a clog in the core and as a result no heat in car.

STALLING

I had a similar problem. After changing just about every sensor under the hood, I finally fixed it by replacing the CCV valve and the vaccuum hose harness and all the hoses: http://jeep.off-road.com/jeep/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=257985 . It ran a little better and then I tightened down the throttlebody. That did the final trick. To be safe, I ended up changing the TB gasket. All cheap fixes after spending a few hundred dollars listening to Mighty Mopar Men.
