Moisture in your ignition system can cause this to happen , start with a cap/rotor and wire replacement. More then likely this will cure your rainy day blues.

You either have bad plug wires or water got in the intake like billie said and is playing havic on your mass air flow sesor. Test the plug wires by squirting some water on them when the car is running (we are looking for like a spray bottle squirt not to much).
If nothing changes ( you will be able to tell the car will wana die or you will see them grounding out a bit) then you can try cleaning the mas, or just replacing it.
Also check your air filter while your in there as well might need to be replaced now :)
The problem in the Jetta could very well be with the ignition coil. I had the same problem for a long time and tried the usual replacing plugs, wires, etc, but nothing seemed to work.
It ended up being the ignition coil which over time, managed to sustain very small cracks. Even a small amount of moisture would cause all sorts of problems.
I replaced the ignition coil and had no problems after that.
thanks,i really appreciated
