SOURCE: Reverse Wire

If only life was that simple. Seriously you should check out a Haynes manual. The wiring colours change from year to year and even then you can't be absolutely sure.
Point in question - I had a number of issues with wire colours that didn't match with what they were supposed to be even in the manual. A little detective work later and I discovered that Ford had used the following years wiring looms in my car so I was looking at the wrong diagrams.

SOURCE: reverse light wire code or color?

PLEASE UNDERSTAND that if you mess with any of the lighting on this vehicle it could cause the control module for the lighting system to malfunction and go out and this part the last time I replaced one was$970.00.

SOURCE: NEED TO KNOW COLOR OF GROUND WIRE FOR BACKUP CAMERA FOE A 2007 FORD MUSTANG

You can ground the wire to any unpainted metal surface. Find a screw or bolt, loosen it, put the wire under it and re-tighten.

Reverse light not working on 2009 ford escape

First check the bulbs. To many times I have replaced bulbs. If bulbs are good then you have to go to the neutral safety switch. It on the drivers side of the transmission. You have power in, because other things work. Check power out. Usually a purple or purple/white wire. No power out. Replace the switch. Personally, I would just live with it.

Reverse light connection & details of fuses

There isn't a fuse for the reverse lights. there are two wires that go to the light. one is a ground, that will be black. the other wire goes to the park, neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission. This is also called the transmission range selector switch. I don't know what type if vehicle you have, except that it's a ford. But most of the times the wire color for the reverse lights are purple or purple with a white stripe.

Have got Ford Trailer Harness Converter wiring set 7T4Z-15A416-B On the box, is a link to get PDF installation instructions at INFORD.COM Unfortunately, I cannot get this PDF Instructions as the site...

I know this post is old but in the interests of helping others ....

I installed the 7T4Z-15A416-B on a 2011 Ford Flex that has LED lights as standard.

I mounted the box on the LH side, inside the rear bumper. Since the box is outside the car, I gooped up the box with 'liquid tape' to seal the wire exits from the plastic casing.

The 4 color ribbon cable goes to the receiver area. I threaded mine through the hitch itself and used cable ties to limit vibration/abrasion.

I spliced the signal cables for LH turn indicator and tail/stop lights into the LH light wiring harness behind the rear lights.

The RH turn indicator has a longer wire which I threaded through the hitch and spliced it into the RH light cluster harness behind the RH light.

I connected the red +ve wire to the 12V feed to the 20A accessory socket in the rear cargo area. I put a small **** in a blanking grommet to bring the wire inside the vehicle.

The earth required drilling a hole into the body behind the LH light. i coated this also with 'liquid tape' for corrosion protection.

The Stop cable (which puzzled me for the longest time) went unused so covered it with insulating tape.

The harness works perfectly. The only caveat is the accessory outlet has to be powered up i.e. the ignition on.

1971 ford f100 pickup neutral safety switch wiring color code

Ford Neutral Safety Switch; Ford Reverse Light Switch; Backup Light Switch.

The Neutral Safety Switch wires in my 1971 Ford F100 are orange with a blue stripe.
The Reverse, or Backup Light Switch wires are black with a red stripe.

There are two sets of two wires across this combined neutral safety and backup light switch, for a total of 4 wires. Photos are at the end of this post.

The switch for the 1971 Ford F100 pickup truck is the same as in many other years and models. For details, including parts numbers, see the following quote from an expert at Ford Truck Enthusiasts:
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/287185-back-up-light-and-neutral-safety-switch-2.html#post5601846

The neutral switch also controls the backup lights, and is the same 1967/77.

C7TZ-7A247-A .. Neutral/Backup Switch (Motorcraft SW-600)

There is no separate backup light switch..except on 1967/68 F350's.

Neutral switch location 1967/77:

The plastic half moon shaped neutral safety switch mounts on the outside lower portion of the steering column (NOT on the transmission!).

It's activated by an inverted Y shaped lever that snaps on the shift tube

D0TZ-7B097-B .. Lever, Neutral Switch Actuator = From FTE sponsor DIRECT FORD PARTS: Ford suggested retail price: $18.72 / FTE member net: $13.23.

The switch is also still available from Ford, but the website is down so I can't post the list & net prices. .

1978 is the FIRST year the F100/350's have the neutral switch mounted on the transmission. __________________

The neutral switch is installed on the steering column near the firewall, with 5/8" bolts into the steering column (visible hole) and down column from a rectangular opening in the column housing. The actuating lever for the switch is attached to the gear shift shaft inside the housing; the lever is visibly protruding from the opening in this image.
