My girlfriends car has just started with the same problem, a limp home from the garage, a sleep over night and als well next day, for a while... I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. After exhausting all other options I may attempt this replacement and will advise the results.

Go to AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts and have them scan the ECU (they do it for free, where a shop will charge you). They'll give you the codes, and you can post them here. Once you do that, I can help you narrow it down.

There is a problem, it needs to go to a factory service center, it can be any one of multiple reasons that turns this light on.

Hello
The
engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only
for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the
transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in
most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory
of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as
the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done
is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system
for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for
engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained
technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then
based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the
correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer
replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other
basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with
the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine.
The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear
engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related
problems.

Did you get a fix to this - I have the same problem on the same car, and it's right after a new clutch and DMF was fitted (both 3rd party). Engine loses power and asc/skid warning lights up, cleared on restart, but now the engine warning light is on and stays on, even on restart. Garage who fitted the new clutch are looking at this, but I may need to swallow the cost of a Mitsu dealer for full investigation.
Been in the garage for the last two weeks got it back last night same problem will get the part no they have changed and post
