When I shift to Reverse my reverse lights wont work.

I noticed that when I shift into reverse my back up lights wont come on. My brakes lights and turn signal lights all work. Except my reverse lights. I checked the fuses in the cab and all were good and I looked in the fuse box in the engine compartment but did not know what I was looking for. I need some help here. I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Pickup and my reverse lights aren't coming on when I backup. I checked all of the fuses and even purchased a fuse tester, but they looked fine. I changed one of the bulbs, just to see if all the bulbs just happened to go out at once, but that didn't resolve the issue.

Could this be something with the electrical connection in the stick shift? Am I missing something?

You have a reverse light switch located somewhere, generally on the transmission of most cars at the shift linkage, I wish I could help more but not familiar with your exact model.

Buy a auto repair manual for your respective truck, or go to the Nissan dealer and ask a tech to show you where the actuator switch is located, and replace that switch. That is the only thing left to replace. That should fix it. Also you could use an Ohm meter to check the switch to see if it is bad. Also check for a broken wire when you remove the actuator switch.
Good Luck!

The reversal light switch is bad and has to be replaced. It's situated on the transmission just below the gear lever and is difficult to get at. The transmission will have to be dropped halfway for access. You will have to let a mechanic handle it if you don't have the necessary tools. NB manual transmission.

SOURCE: heater core on a 2003 Chevrolet pickup 4 wheel drive crew cab

if you have air conditioning you will need to take it to a garage and recover the r134, you will need to remove the dash to allow you to remove the heater box, it's an ugly job, I've done a dozen or so and can do it in about 6 hours now, the first time it was closer to 11 hrs, good luck

SOURCE: How to remove and replace cabin air filter 2007 se crew cab

If you haven't figured it out yet, try the two links below. They have pics and diagrams. I haven't done this yet but, Nissan suggesting to have it done. (Sitting in the dealer having oil changed as we speak. They want $90 to replace the 2 filters.) I'm planning on doing it myself to save about $70. Doesn't look too difficult - just a little time. Parts are about $22 at local parts store. hope this helps. (Won't be back on this forum. So won't see any response you submit back).

Reverse lights/Rear internal brake light not working

there is a reverse switch on top of the trans where the shift cable is attached. is there power to and through that switch while in reverse? the cyclops light needs the power interruption traced back from the socket to the switch on the brake pedal to find out where you have lost power or possibly taped into brake power at another brake light bulb socket

My 86 olds cutlas wont go in reverse but will shift in all other gears why

Common problem back in the day was linning falling off low/reverse clutches. You can confirm this by driving in manual low a ways and feeling what is called engine braking ( where the engine holds back on a coast). If you have engine braking then you have some other problem I have never seen. I cut my teeth fixing these transmissions and when they would not back up it was always a reverse clutch problem exept the ones that would not shift and had no reverse and it was a stripped sun gear shell.Good luck!

When I try to shift from park to drive it gets tight at reverse as if doesn't want go but once out of reverse it shift normally until shifting back to park when I have to go threw reverse then it tightens...

Is it only when you go from park to reverse? Or is it just as bad going from neutral to reverse? I've noticed on mine that it's often tight if I park on even a slight slope. If it only happens when going from park to reverse, try this. Hold your foot on the brake, and put the car in drive. Keeping constant pressure on the brake, go back to park, then back into drive. Did you feel the stiffness when you had your foot on the brake?

My chevy cavalier back lights wont come on i put new sockets and bulbs...what seems to be the problem and how do i fix the problem myself

Either the back-up switch is bad or needs adjusting. It's pretty much when you put your car in reverse, it makes a switch which makes your back-up lights come on. Not sure about yours, but some are located under the gear shift console when the gear shift is moved it will then make the switch, and some are on the transmission. I would try adjusting the switch first, which the car will have to be in reverse to get the lights to come on. It can be a little dangerous, but make sure the car it secured and someone is helping you. Gear shift in reverse, with someone holding the brakes while the switch is adjusted. It hard to explain this process, but wish you luck in fixing it.

My gear shift is stuck and will not move from park to reverse. I had backed out the car and turned it off. when I went to move the car, my gear shift will not move out of the park position.

do the brake lights work? the system has a lock out that keeps you from moving out of park unless the brake circuit is activated, hence no brake lights no park lock out release, if the brk lights do work u most have a stuck or defective park lock out solenoid.
