Had the same problem with the same year model, changed the idle position sensor, did not fix problem. took it to dealer because I was told that it had to have an idle relearn program ran on it, it didn't take and the dealer toldme that I need a ECM (engine control module) basically a new computer and it would cost with labor about 1100.00 dollars.

SOURCE: 1) Apx. how much would it cost parts & labor to change Ignition switch on a 1998 Nissan Maxima SE? 2) Do you think I can find the parts?

HI, the cost of the ignition switch is $27.99. the labor cost is usually figure by the hour and it is set a 50 dollar an hour increment. In my shop, we have a set minimum labor charge of two hour as most shops in my area. Total estimated cost including the labor and parts should be around $127.99 give or take.

You can most certainly purchase this part yourself on-line at www.autozone.com

Part Number is - LS812
OEM Number---- 48750- 1E411

Please rate and god bless:)

SOURCE: 1995 Nissan Maxima idle problems

Let's try the cheapest fix first. Change the fuel filter out. You'll probably see a brown looking goop in the gas, This is an "ETHANOL" problem. Read up on it. These are all related to so many idle and acceleration problems. Buy a can of SEAFOAM at the parts house. Fill up tank with Premium and add SEAFOAM. Then change filter out before 500 more miles. This should clean out the water and the goop and the carbon build up caused by the ETHANOL. Add a can of SEAFOAM every 3000 mile after that to a full tank of gas. It will keep your emissions, engine, and fuel lines clean. And will keep your car from line freeze up. Good luck.

SOURCE: I am having problems finding the idle air control

It is always attached to the intake or throttle body in the one piece either below sticking to intake or is either at the throttle and is the only one with an electric plug on to it, on the Maxima 04 I know that it is s ingle piece with the throttle body.....and is held by 4 screws and the gasket most of the times can be reused....

Good luck.

94 nissan altima won't start and iddle after cleaning IACV valve

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. The cars computer or PCM (powertrain control module) receives information from various sensors and will output signals to adjust the idle air control motor in or out to adjust engine idle speed by controlling engine idle air. An idle air control motor can fail one of two ways, either the motor short circuits and stops working or the motor will develop high resistance and cause the idle air control motor to react slowly, either failure can cause the engine to stall at idle. When a trouble code scan is performed it sometimes won't always detect a failed or weak idle air control motor.

Having trouble locating the iddle air control motor

the IAC valve is located directly on the throttle body, which is connected to the airbox by a rubber hose/tube

Problems with my 94 k1500 / changed idle control valv / map sensor / throttle control sensor /plugs,wires,cap,rotor ,and fuel filter / these are all the things i have bought but nothing i have done will...

it might be the ECU, when cold the computer raises the iddle to warm it up, when reaches temp., it dropes it down to normal iddle, but it might not know where the correct iddle is, it might be another sensor like a cam, map, throttle position senssor.

Engine will not idle, high idle ok. 1985 aries 2.2L

usually when a car wont iddle it may have a blown head gasket , remove oil filler cap on rocket or tappet cover check for creamy coloured oil , if so blown head gasket , also when morot is cool remove radiator cap and check fro brownish residue under cap if so blown head gasket .
remove each spark plug if one or more of them is white on tip of plug water is getting into cylinder ..

if none of these some carby's or throttle body's have iddle screww which can be adjusted to speed up iddle , or if throttle body it may have an iddle soleniod which may need to be replaced ,
i hope for you is is just and iddle issue , both the solenion and head gasket arnt cheap to fix.
the soliniod although easier to remove and replace its cost is usually .... expensive on most makes of cars , dont know why just because there greedy dealerships !

hope you need only to adjust carby or check timing is o.k

good luck hope this helps

Engine iddle speed need adjusting

You cant adjust it. Your car has a tps sensor " throttle position sensor " and a iac idle air control. these are both on the throttle body. is the check engine light on? The best way to check them is on a scanner at places like auto zone they will let you use one for free. and will help you do it. first check the codes if any then look at live data scroll down till you see tps and look at its values rev the motor up and it should change values are 0% to 100% no throttle to full throttle. at idle it should be 18 to 26 or so. if it doesnt change or its at a high number and no gas is being given then its bad. also look at the iac and see if it changes as well. you can also google the resistence values for each and ohm them out. It does sound like a bad tps. try that first , and the tps is easy to change

Fast iddle speed when engine is cold.

This is acting normally then...

I guess it really depends on how cold it gets outside as well as how high the RPM's go...
If your RPM's are above 3500 RPM's then I do suspect something is wrong, and further
info is needed...
