The cable has come loose because the mating parts are worn thru use and need to be replaced. Unfortunately the parts needed are no longer available. If you find them let me know as my 2003 suburban needs the same repair.

SOURCE: '07 Chevy Tahoe 3rd Row seat will not fold down

I have had this problem, and I am having it again. The problem is if a little trash gets under the bar in the floor, it will keep the mechanism from locking completely. I had tried everything. The only solution so far is the rock back and forth. Real pain. I am trying to find a secret release.

SOURCE: 2007 Tahoe 3rd row right seat will not fold

I solved the problem by spraying WD40 into the front side of the seat support that was sticking. This support has a rubber closure to protect the mechanics of the seat. After spraying a generous amount of WD40, I waited about 5 minutes and tried the lever to fold the seat. It worked and still does.

SOURCE: 1999 Tahoe rear seat relase quit working; can't fold down seat!

There is a cable that pulls the release when you fold down the bottom seat. Broken cable can be repaired by replacing cable.

Why are my 2nd row 60/40 seats stuck upright and won't fold down?

There is a special spring release under rear seats, under bottom of seat,at floor level, this releases the seat and allows it to fold ahead. often rusts and needs to be greased.Suggest white spray grease!!

How to remove 2nd row bucket seats

The manual says to pull the strap or level and "double fold" it. The first time I tried it, the seat stuck. The trick was to do it as a single motion, fold the chair in half and swing the seat up and forward. Don't fold the back down then pull again to get the seat forward, it just gets stuck.

I want to make my 1999 Mercury Villager Sport into a cargo loader, with just the front seats kept and the rest of the back empty. How do I remove the other 3 seats? So far, I can't get any of them to budge...

the middle seats come out easily. There are 2 handles you have to lift up on each of the bucket seats, they are in the front of the seat down by the seat tracks. After you lift them, tilt the seat upward in the front and rotate them backward. Then lift out of the hooks. Each seat is held down by 4 hoks.

The 3rd row seat is not designed to come out xcept by a technician. It does slide forward all the way up to the front seat. It has a sliding seat track.
First, lift the T handle under the seat cushion on the left front side of the seat. This will allow you to lift the seat bottom up all the way to lcok in the full up position.
Then, lift the lever on the same side of the seat and slide the seat forward. It will stop in 4 places.
Rear -Rear
6 inches forward of that.
another two ft to the second row seating position
full frward against the front seats.

Pleae rate as fixya if this helps.

2003 chevy tahoe 2nd row seating

lower the bottom portion, there will be two black cables. follow them toward the back of the seat, past a black round plate, where they become top and bottom cables. Push down toward the floor board on the bottom cable (my bottom cable is no longer black coated but rather a bare feeling cable wire). When pushing down on the bottom cable, pull the seat forward. As the seat does come forward the headrest will fold back at the same time. Not an easy find for me either, they should just make a release lever, but oh well..... I Hope this helps. Just keep playing around with those two cables until it finally does release.

Need to remove backseat

You can not remove the far back seat, only the middle one. But you can slide it all the way foward. I have had my van for two years and just learned how to do it today from my husband. Below the rear are two levers. A and B. Make sure the back of the seat is in the upright position and then pull on Levee A. At the same time, lift of the bottom of the seat. It will go up and fold together making a V with the back of the seat. Then pull lever B and slide seat forward.
