OVERDRIVE is fine in most driving. if you tow a trailler or pulling long hills take out of overdrive. otherwise the vehicle will handle when to shift.

Bad alternator. Taking puddles and snow banks at full speed does this, usually.

sounds like the lockup converter is not releasing when you stop, like stopping with a stick shift and not pushing in the clutch. lockup solenoid most likely. Could just disconnect the lockup sol. (won't lock up at all) or replace the solenoid.

My 2000 ford expedition XLT 4.2 L V8 overdrive lite is flashing as well took it in they said I need a new transmission so I are they can't put in a new overdrive thing my trucks rpm go high ones I'm over 45 it starts flashing and rpm go up but no power almost like it puts itself in neutral anyway I have to put in in drive 2 then switch back to drive to have power again as long as I stay under 42 miles an hour it drives fine over that speed overdrive light flashes and rpm are wakey lol I don't know anyone have a idea I don't want to put in a new transmission please help it's the only car my family has thank you

Yes, that is a good buy depending on price of course. A Cummins engine can run for 300,000 miles or longer. Generally reach the 500,000 mile mark with no major problems. There is a chance of an injector pump going out if it wasn't maintained well. I would buy it. I hope this helps please rate this and thank you

One thing to check is if the fuel pump is working and what the fuel pressure is. The pump is inside the fuel tank. The pressure must be 35 to 65 psi. The pump can be working but if the pressure is not enough the car will not start.

Trans needs to be rebuilt. I just had one rebuilt for a 2000 chev pickup $2000
