This problem just started @ 110,000 miles and is very intermitant. When the Overdrive cuts off, most of the time the Transmission Over temp. light cuts on also. It is not overheating as it does it mostly in the mornings after start up.
After running a while both lights cut off and normal operation resumes
Check your transmission check valve it’s in line on lower radiator line replace it the get stuck
What to look for when the over temp light comes on for the transmission , for 2006 jeep commander 5.7 liter?
When the transmission overheat light (this is for the fluid) comes on the transmission control module pulls the trans out of OD to try and cool it down, this is called failure mode strategy, it is built into the programming of the control module, the signal from the trans is most likely incorrect, but the module doesn't know that, replace the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
