Intermittently have to use charger to start.

I replaced battery in my 2000 Concorde in 2005 and 2007 and still seems to have battery drain for no apparent reason. Randomly doesn't start but does start up after using battery charger. I had driven it 25 miles to resturant last time it happened and started right up later and drove 15 miles when it stuttered momentarily but continued another 10 miles before a stutter then minute later shut down completely. Had headlights when trued. Dashboard lit up normal for turning key,but only a single click sound Repeated 3 times.........same thing dash lit up, and only one click. Still had headlights. when tried.

Next time it happened it, had sat in garage over night, Used charger and it started right up. Didn't drive. Next morning had to charge again, then it started right up. It has run fine again since Thanksgiving day.

It's making me paranoid to drive it. It's a great car otherwise.

I printed your comment on possibilty of automatic light switches not going off or alternator diode problem to my Chrysler dealer and after keeping it a week without problem occuring, they don't feel it is either problem but said to have it towed in if it occurs so they can check it out while the problem is actively happening. They feel there is a battery drain from some thing, but haven't found it. I thanked you because it may have helped rule out those things.

It has started up fine this weekend but that is the history of it's behaviour.

The most common cause of this by far is lights left on by defective switchs, these include the map lights in the visors, the glove box light due to a defective switch, the trunk light and the hood light if equipped, check it at night and look for a faint glow, the other much less common cause is the alternator has a defective diode and allows a small current to pass to ground drawing the battery down..

I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde, and the battery light keeps going off an on. I've already bought a new battery and Crankshaft Position Sensor. It's been starting hard and the battery just died in it.

Did you have the alternator checked? When the battery light comes on, it indicates either the battery is very bad and is draining power from the system, or the alternator is not providing enough voltage to keep the battery charged.
Once you have the electrical problem taken care of, and the system is getting proper voltage, you can see if you continue to have problems with the engine performance. (The crankshaft position sensor has nothing to do with battery charging)

Hi Moyerwm, Disconnect the battery for about two minutes and reconnect. If that does not help, have the battery fully charged and then it should be fine. Regards John

Battery drain

A mechanic would disconnect the battery and check it for a dead cell, then check the circuits on the car for a short or something on with everything switched off. Things like a stuck relay or light on.

Repeated replacement of 2000 Concorde front axle and boot

the replacement may have been defective.  transaxles need replacement because the boots rip and the grease washes out or gets contaminated with dirt...then the balls inside them wear and get noisy.
Replace it, perhaps at another shop or do it yourself...it's a fairly easy repair job.

1998 Chrysler Concorde Starting Problem

First of all, you should never touch the gas when starting it, on a fuel injected engine. Whether engine is cold, or warmed up, you shouldn't touch gas pedal. That was o.k. years back when carburetors were used, but not with fuel injection. Yes you will cause flooding especially when warmed up. Now there is a good chance you have a sensor or something acting up, but I'm guessing they checked for that when checking battery problem. You may be able to check for codes by cycling key, have yoou tried that, or had codes read yet?
