This car is 21 yrs old and well past its sell by date ,now is this clear rad container your refering to ? is it the over flow bottle or the radiator header tank If you do have a problem with the head gasket then it may pay you to trade it in quick and buy a nice peugeot diesel manual and reduce your carbon footprint and save a lot of money in fuel as well with 70mpg .Your dealing with a big petrol engine here in this car and lots of things could be wrong and going wrong owing to the vehicles age and their come a time when you have to give it some euthanasia and send it to the great motorway in the sky unless you have a bottomless pit of a wallet

slide the lower part of shifter handle down and you will find two screws, but there is 2 wires coming in from center console for overdrive button.you have to remove the center console cover and remove the 2 wires from connector and then pull up threw handle.when you go back together you will have to guide them back threw the handle.

Not too bad. Not much room, just enough to drop the starter. It is probably easier to go up through exhaust if you can get your exhaust shield off the manifold .

1996 Lexus LS400; the engine coolant keeps running

Check the oil dip stick if it is a milky white this is really bad being cracked engine head or blown head gasket.
More than likely and best out come it will be the radiator or a radiator hose.
If you can see water stain some where around the radiator it does not need to be a big amount.
Or a radiator hose that may have water around it or coming out when hot then that is your leak.
Maybe a good idea to take to a radiator place or a mechanic ask them to put a pressure test on the radiator.
Also only fill radiator when cold or if you need to do when hot make shore the car is running to avoid cracking the engine head as this will make any grown person cry $$$$
And do on a hill with engine facing up running and cap off little bubbles will come out keep filling when bubbles stop put cap on fill reservoir ( a little container next to the radiator).
Let me know if this helps.

97 eldorado idles and does not run hot, only when driving car runs hot.

May be its low on coolant or radiator hoses clogged or its thermostat issue, its remaining closed or it can be issue with coolant leaking from somewhere.Or cooling fan not running when when engine gets warm.

94.lexus ls400- keeps pushing radiator coolant out of overflow,

Your radiator could be glogged and causing it to back up out of overflow, drain coolant,if still good, save and remove bottom hose from radiator get hose and insert in radiator and let run and see how flow is,if clooged,go to autozone and tell them what is happening and they will get you what you need to unglog .To check water pump, unscrew radiator cap and put over opening, crank engine, let it get at operating temperature, remove cap and check flow.Click on link to view radiator flush. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Fluids-and-Chemicals/Radiator-Cleaner-and-Additive/_/N-262g?filterByKeyWord=radiator+flush&fromString=search

I have a 91 lexus ls400 and its overheating. the only problem i can find is both electric fans dont kick on (i can wire them to a relay to bypass the factory wiring). i took the hoses off the engine and...

would have repaced the thermastadt. most commen cause of those fans not turning on because thr thermostadt is not letting the hot water flow into the radeattor .by passing the wiring and relays can only lead to bigger problems , but you have proven your fans work. water just drizled out of the block cause you had no water in the house to the pump ( no water to pump) thermostadts, temp sensors or temp sending unit .simple check for themostadt fill up with all houses attached with rad cap off run engine fill rad as needed keep feeling top hose to radiator it should get hot all of the sudden thats your thermostadt opening( working) go to next step check sensors or sending unit. realy best if you get a haynes or chilton at the half priced book store or auto parts storeand go to trouble shooting for over heating

My lexus ls400 1991 the two electri fan all time is on

Either the temperature sensor on the radiator, or the relay is bad.
Pull a wire off the temperature sensor on the radiator.
If it stops the fans, then the sensor is bad and the relay ok.
