We got a check engine light (blinking), a TCS warning light and Electronic stability control warning light. Also the engine has a miss (thats what the blinking check engine means according to the manual). Our mechanic told us that the problem is the coil and it will solve all 3 problems. Can this be possible?
If a misfire is bad enough the cpu will shut off traction control causing the light to come on. For the engine light to be flashing you need a heavy miss and shouldn't drive it due to potential Cat failure. Changing the coil can fix all issues if that's the only part causing a misfire, typically i would recommend changing the spark plugs while you are in there.

Most probably and if a cat is not flowing proper is causes back preasure that can result in sticking or burned vavles,mechanic not nice by saying ignore the cat effiency code p0420.Can ussually have cat replaced at aftermarket muffler shop for approx. $200 cheaper than valve job or excessive fuel that you have used and damage that may occur to your engine.

on the side of the trans is a drive sensor for speedo which will be deeper in length to the control solenoid & screws on to its base
so its the other one you need to check!

I suggest changing your egr valve. I have a 03 impala with the same problem and check engine light came on and through the code for the egr valve. they are 154 at autozone
