I bought a 2004 Focus in April. The door ajar light is always on. No problem. Once I check that the doors are all closed, I can ignore the light. But the buzzer sounds at random, and it is driving me bloody mad! Sometimes it is quiet for 10, 15, or 20 miles, other times it sounds continuously whenever the car is in gear. When it is sounding continuously, it will stop when I put it in Park, but resume as soon as I put it in gear, even if I shut off and restart the engine while in Park. When it is not sounding continuously, it sounds at every bump in the road, and when turning a corner or braking. After a bump, corner, or stop, it sometimes stops, and other times sounds continuously. The only thing that sometimes makes it stop is accelerating sharply from a dead stop. When it stops, I can always get it to sound again by applying the brakes, but once it starts, I cannot reliably get it to stop. It seems to sound more often when the fuel tank is below half full, or when the windshield washer fluid is low. The washer fluid reservoir leaks, so it is hard to keep full. Other than the door light, which is always on, no warning lights come on with the buzzer. They do light up properly during start-up, so I think they're all working. I'd like to fix the problem or find the buzzer and cut its wires before I lose my mind!

your abs unit is failing and needs replaced ...the procedure for testing is to backprobe green wire in abs connector and watch voltage wave pattern on a scope ....it will show voltage does not go from 0 to 12 but only 4 to 12 volts that verifies problem is abs controller.

check all of the door sensors. (buttons that are pushed in when doors close) they sometimes come loose and need adjusting.. easy fix once you find the bad one.
This problem is caused by one of the door ajar sensing switches being defective, it is a common fault in Many Ford cars and light trucks. Each door has a switch and two at the tail gate door. The switches are attached to the side of the door latch and very hard to replace, since you would most likely have to detrim at least two doors to find the bad switch the most prudent thing to do is have the dealer scan the door ajar waring system, the scan will indicate exactly which switch has the problem.
check all doors for a broken pin switch, this switch deactivates the ajar light and also shuts off and tuns on interior light when door is open or closed
Its controled by a switch on the door jam . The problem is that it likely controls the dome light to . Find the buzzer under the dask it should be easy if its buzzing then pull the connector off of it .Can't say for sure if this will effect interior lighting but you can always reconnect the wires to the buzzer
The light switch that gets pushed in by the side doors when the doors are closed is not being pushed all the way in. Change it or place a piece carton over it so when the door closes it presses on it correctly. You may have to tape the carton to teh door and align it so it presses on the switch. The switch is located on the inside frame where the rear side of the sliding door closes. You can see it as a small pin taht gets pushed in. Try it manually. You should be able to see "door ajar" on your dash panel when the pin is not pressed in correctly and you get the roblem you mentioned. Good luck. It happened to me for a long time until I did what I just told you.
inside the doors is a Small twist in button switch on the door latch assembly that turns on the doom and key buzzer, they stick and make a poor connection, this causes your problem, i have replaced 100's of them, u will have to detrim the door to get at it. The switch is about $10 and u can get it from most parts stores, here is a picture. remember there is one on each door latch.
please check the fuse box yu can pull out the fuse which controls the buzzer and the interior light the easiest way to determine this fuse is to turn on the head light and start pulling thefuse out until it stops buzzing!!
Anyone? Bueller?
