Adding freon will not correct the problem. If you need to add freon, you have a leak, and you have moisture in the system, the leak should be located, mositure removed, then freon added. But to answer your question. Open the hood on, the left side you will see a round object called a dryer, you will see two pipes coming from it, one at the top and one at the bottom. The smaller is the high side, the larger is the low side. Obtain a can of freon either R-22 or 134a with an adapter for installing the freon. Turn the engine on, turn the AC to high. Add the freon to the ac using the low side.

Saturn 2000 SC
Your system uses r-134a as the refrigerant. Freon® R12 was outlawed some years ago.
It looks like you may have lost your r-134a. You will have to get it replaced. When you do, be sure
to have an ultraviolet tracer dye added. This will be used to detect the leak you appear to have.
When the system is recharged, your mechanic can take a black light (yes like in college)
and check for leaks. If something has bump against an AC pipe the O-ring seals may be loose and would need to be replaced. The test will show it.

my 2000 saturn sl blows cold air with the heater on. I changed the thermostat, and checked out my heater core.Still blows cold air.

First, check your engine coolant level. If it is low, you need to find out why. If the coolant level in the radiator is full, it could be many things including a bad thermostat, a clogged heater core, or a broken or damaged air temperature door or actuator.
