A.S.A.P. 2000 ford escort zx2- heater not working

The fans on the car blow, but when its on heat it doesn't blow hot (it's cold). If it's not the heater-coil, than what could it be and how would i get to it, and, or fix this problem. And if you know how to take the black piece that holds the radio, heat/ac knobs... let me know that as well, so i can get behind it and see if somthing is wrong right there!

P.S. It's a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2, 2dr, DOHC 4cl.,

I cannot tell you exactly where it is but I do know there are flaps that move as you turn the heat knob. it mixes hot and cold air to get the determined temp. if the door is stuck in the cold position though you will get no heat. all I can tell you is it will be in the middle to passenger side and you should see some sort of linkage hooking to it. note there is a direction/panel defrost etc. flap
there is a fresh air recirculate flap.
there is ahot cold flap. so what I am trying to say is if you dont get it on the first one keep trying. it could have electric actuators that move these flaps so dont necessarily look for metal rods or cables.generally you can tell if when you turn your knobs and they are very easy it is electric. but if you feel some resistance it will have cables/rods going to them. just start digging under that dash.

Is there water-coolant in it???

  • godslogic Aug 24, 2016

First off the number one reason for car is not blowing hot is lack of coolant in the cooling system tearing the dash apart is not advised to check it will check the water second thing you do is grab a heater hose to see if they're getting hot with the rest of the car if they're not getting hot you take off a heater hose the easiest one and make sure that you have flow through the heater core as for the dash controls if you've never taken the dash apart and all the controls feel normal and not broken it's unlikely that's the problem. But you never know and enthusiastic stereo installer go to did something

TO THE UPPER RIGHT OF GAS PEDAL IS THE CONTROL LINKAGE TO THE VENT OPENING DOORS. YOU MIGHT HAVE KICKED IT LOOSE WITH YOUR TOE. RECONNECT AND IT SHOULD WORK.

Heater blows cold air 98 ford escort zx2 both top and bottom hose is hot to the touch.

Something wrong with your temperature blend door in the heater case. It's not opening. Ask emissionwiz here on Fixya for the specifics to how it operates. I mostly work on older junk.( Yeah, I'm reliving my youth in my ' 87 toyota sports car. lol.)

Heat does not work. only cold air blows out. 2001 Ford Escort ZX2 5-speed

either engine temp not up to normal (bad thermostat) or you have air trapped in cooling system. go to a shop with evac/fill equipment and they will **** out the air.

2001 ford escort zx2 has no heat. Blower OK, AC fine. I did notice the temp guage fluctuates quite a bit. When I select full hot, will get warm (NOT hot) air for about 30 sec. then it blows cold. Could...

It is much more likely you are low on coolant or you have an air bubble trapped in the cooling system. You should bleed the cooling system to get any trapped air out and make sure it is full of coolant.

I have a 01 ford escort zx2 and it is making a whining noise from under the hood i have replaced the water pump and it still whines and the heater will start off blowing hot air but when you go several...

Remove the serpentine belt and run the engine to see if the whine still exists. If the whine is gone, try moving the pullies by hand to feel what pully is rough or has a lot of play. Your issue with the heat is likely separate from the whine. You have air in the cooling system. With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap. Fill the radiator to the top and run the engine until it gets to operating temp. The level in the radiator will drop, this is when you add more coolant and replace the cap. Make sure your overflow/resivoir bottle is half full with coolant.

Heater only blows hot (well, warm) on full speed of fan

Replace the temp control on this car, it should be electrical control not cables.
