I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 6 disc player model RAQ without navigation. i want to install a part a bought online for my ipod. How do I remove the dash portion over my radio? Thanks!
I have no idea, but i would like to ask you about the performance of the vehical, i have a 2005 jeep cherokee standard 6cylinders laredo, does your jeep dash flash off and on at random time through the day,it didn't start out like this but gradually got worse till it does it all the time. I need to know if yours does the same thing or has it ever done it, and what do you think is the cause. This is an easy fix. Use a flat head screwdriver andpry out the center stack where the heating and air controls are. this will just pop out. From there there are a few screws to to remove to get the cover off around the stereo.

Replace the stereo in the Jeep.
Aftermarket or factory your choice.
There is no way to self resolve this problem...
And any junk yard stereo you buy will need an activation code. Just buy a good Pioneer or Kenwood stereo and install it. Problem solved. No more BS
this is a typical problem with the factory stereo. usually there is nothing you can do for the Cd player, because most likely a cd got jammed and broke or bent some internal components. however try usig a credit card to help eject. insert it partially into the slot and pull out if the cd tries to come out. if this doesen't work then you will have to have the cd removed by tearing it apart. this usually ends up with at least one or two scratched cds and a deck in a million pieces.
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the Jeep Cherokee battery with the 10 mm wrench.
2
Remove the five screws on the top edge of the dash panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
3
Pry the trim panels surrounding the climate control knobs away from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool.
4
Remove the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp switches
(located to the left of the steering column) with a trim panel removal
tool.
5
Remove the two screws behind the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp controls with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
6
Pull the dash panel that surrounds the stereo and covers the instrument panel of the Cherokee, away from the dashboard by hand.
7
Remove the two screws from the stereo mounting bracket. One
screw is on the bottom left corner, the other screw is on the top right
corner. Each screw can be removed with the 10 mm socket and drive.
8
Pull the factory stereo from the stereo mounting dock.
9
Disconnect the stereo wiring from the back of the factory unit.
10
Connect the Jeep Cherokee factory stereo wiring to a wiring
harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to an
aftermarket stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the stereo
mounting bracket and replaced two screws at the opposite corners with
the 10 mm socket and drive.
11
Replace dash panel that stretches across the top of the steering column.
12
Replace the two screws at the top of the headlamp control switch. Replace the trim panel around the headlamp switch.
13
Replace the trim panel that surrounds the climate control knobs.
14
Replace the five screws on the top edge of the dashboard with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
15
Replace the negative battery cable over the negative battery
terminal and tighten the cable to the negative lead post with the 10 mm
wrench
best way go to a auto stereo shop see what brands and sizes they have to fit jeep, also they may know best location for it. also what kind of installation kit you may need, good luck.
If its not responding at all, you will have to remove the unit and take it apart until you can remove the disc's by hand. You can either put it back together and just use the radio or replace it with oem or aftermarket deck.
Check at stereo sales/install place, or most auto parts stores have them now, and ask for adapter for wiring & plate for mounting in what ever vehicle you decide. It makes things a lot neater, & easier. Take player in with you to make sure, mounting plate is correct.
Under the cd slot you will see a long thin rectangle that can be gently pryed out with a knife tip on the right side of the rectangle. under that cover there is a small button. push that and out comes the nav disc. Voila solved
