It is a timing chain, and 100,000 miles is a good time to change it.

Why does a ntiming chain need to be replaced after it slips? or can you just set it back?

Because the reason it slipped is it has stretched out beyond service limit.Setting it back would only allow it to slip again.

My nissan 350z sometimes stalls after starting

after i replaced the battery in my 2003 350z, it would stall immediatly after i cranked it on unless i gave it a little gas. I fixed this by cleaning the MAF and throtle body valve. Total supply costs were $15 and took about 20 minutes. My Z is not only fixed but runs smoother and cleaner.

It sounds like an low charging system voltage issue, the Bose draws allot of juice, have the charging system tested and the battery, Kragen and many other chain parts stores do this for nothing.
