Battery Light, Power Steering

Hey.. I hit a dip in my 2007 335i coupe and my car went air born. After the car landed my battery sensor went on and it said "charging malfunction". I also lost power steering. But the car starts just fine. Is there any way i could reset it?

In case anyone pulls up this topic: yes, serpentine belt can be thrown off the alternator pulley and cause the charge warning. Worse though for these N54 cars: a big enough shock can cause one of the pulleys to hit the subframe and become damaged.

When that occurs, the belt can shred and wrap itself around the crankshaft inboard of the main crank pulley, then the rubber and wire remnants will chew right thru the main seal into the crankcase. Now you're looking at major engine repair.

I had this happen to my '07 335i as a result of a rear-end collision. Insurance can and should pay for this if it results from a covered collision, but you may have to show them the technical service bulletin (SIB 11 09 08) in order for them to believe it's related damage. There should also be marks on the subframe and damage to the pulley, but this can be subtle.

I bet you threw your serpintine belt due to the impact? That would cause all your issues.

Check the air duct hose between the air mass flow sensor and the throttle body maybe cracked , if it's not check your mass flow sensor if you have check engine light on ,it's better to scan your car by OBD 2 scanner

Battery when flat and now no power steering with red fault light.

Get your battery charged and get it tested. The steering wheel fault is generated usually when low battery power occurs, and once restored, and car is driven a few feet,it clears itself..

Eps light indicating. does not go off when engine running

Did you change the battery? IF so that can cause this. The EPS is electric power steering. There is a motor that assists the steering system and if you remove the battery, it can have problems. If you hit something and the alignment went out or if you had it aligned by someone that does not know about these, it can cause problems.

Land Rover Disco II Steering

Sounds like a belt--
Belt provides rotation for the power steering pump, alternator, and water pump.

Hope this helps!

Battery and break indicator showed up and power steering went out all at the same time

Are you sure the drive belt is still on the engine ?
The battery light usually comes on when the alternator is not charging the battery, and the power steering is also belt driven.
The brake warning light can come on when the brake fluid is low, but also when the battery light comes on.

Power steering went out while driving and battery

If the belt gets wet and flies off, or starts to slip, the power steering and alternator will stop spinning causing this condition.

Check belts to see if they are still on the truck and spinning the pulleys of the alternator and power steering pump.
